Ushering were Terry Richmond and Elaine Brown. Guest organist was Elizabeth Stennett. Guest speaker Emily Phillips welcomed everyone to church with the call to worship. The first hymn Blessed Assurance, was followed by the prayer of confession repeated responsively and the assurance of pardon. The choir anthem was Father Almighty. A minute for missions was read by Grant Sparling. The children brought the food for the food bank to the front of the church. For the children’s story Emily had brought along different coins and showed the children that change could make a difference and change the lives of some children. There was enough change to buy a goat in Uganda and make a change in the lives of the children in Uganda. The story was followed by The Lord’s Prayer and the children went downstairs for their time of worship and fellowship. The scripture readings were from Mark 10: 17-22 and Psalm 46 and a reading from Acts 9: 1-31. The next hymn was All Beautiful March of Days. Emily’s message to the adults was, When Change Makes Change. There are many changes in our lives, change of jobs and children leaving home. All changes cause stress and most of us don’t like change. The United Church is always changing. The role of the minister in the United Church is changing and we may be able to change along with these changes. Everyone is encouraged to attend the Legion Remembrance Day Service at Blyth Memorial Hall at 10:30 a.m. There will be no service at Blyth United that day. The offering was received followed by the Prayers of the People. The last hymn Abide with Me was followed by the commissioning the benediction and the singing of Go Now In Peace. Sometime during the night of Oct.29-30, culprits stole a pickup truckand its contents from a HarristonRoad address in Morris-Turnberry.The truck is a maroon 1997 Ford F- 150 super cab with Ontario Marker #7961HA. The Vehicle Identification Number is 2FTDX18W3VCA81300. There was a 200-gallon diesel fuel tank with an electric pump and a Coleman generator in the box of the truck. There were also numerous assorted tools and parts in addition to a two-way FM radio. The value of the goods in the truck is estimated to be in excess of $6,000. The vehicle has a large tow bar on the front bumper and two large antennas for the radio system. Citizens are reminded to lock their vehicle any time it is unoccupied. It is important not to leave valuables in a vehicle. Keys should not be left inside a vehicle. Lock it or lose it is a crime prevention phrase that needs to be adopted to reduce the number of stolen vehicles and thefts from vehicles, said Const. Joanne Van Mierlo. If you have any information regarding this or any criminal activity contact Crime Stoppers 1- 800-222-TIPS(8477). So many pies... Jenna McDonald stood guard at the dessert table of last Sunday’s roast beef supper at Blyth Memorial Hall sponsored by Trinity Anglican Church. The eight-year-old McDonald was a big help to the preparation of the meal, working harder than the grown-ups to get food on the tables.
