The Citizen, 2007-07-19, Page 2PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2007.
The days on the calendar until
Homecoming are flying by.
Advertising chair John Lowe said
that by now everyone should have
received their weekend events
schedule for the 135th anniversary
celebration of Brussels being held
July 27, 28, 29.
“These were distributed to every
residence in Brussels, Morris and
Grey last week.”
The committees and chairs are
also included in the information.
Anyone who didn’t receive the
schedule in their mail can pick it up
at various retail merchants in
Brussels, said Lowe.
As well, the agenda will be found
in the special Homecoming 2007
issue included in the July 26
Citizen.
Advance tickets are being sold for
the two dances as well as for the
Saturday beef dinner and the pork
chop barbecue on Sunday.
Forms are available at Murray’s
Barber Shop for these, said
Lowe.
Charles Hoy of the heritage
committee is reminidng people that
the building located just north of
George of Brussels, where tickets
can be purchased as well, will
feature an extensive display for
people to peruse.
Tickets are also available by
calling the arena at 519-887-6621
for dance tickets, 519-887-2664
or 519-887-6687 for the

We are now past the mid-point of
July – where do the days go?
Once again the past few weeks
Mother Nature reminded us that we
are not in control. As much as we
like to think we have our destiny in
hand, we only need to review the
weather to get the story straight.
In the past six weeks weather hasbeen the hot topic, just beforeHomecoming. Weather seems tohave lost its pattern and the familiarrhythms of summer are missing. Attimes the thoughts it provokes areuncomfortable as the future isviewed.Stories and pictures abound ofsome of the more dramatic weather
events in our area. Hailstone size,
wind velocity and rain stories are in
huge supply depending on where
folks were at any given moment.
Unless you were in the middle of the
specific storm it is really hard to
believe the details of the weather
gone wrong.
The red and white is looking good
and spreading in good form and
taste. Even the paint brushes arebeing brought out with excellentresults. Weddings and special partiesare good things to have every fewyears as it makes us take a criticallook at our presentation. Drivinginto our village offers a festive looknow. It’s good to hear of folks fromaway making plans to attend some
or lots of our weekend celebration.
So don’t miss out on any of the fun,
check the ads and make your plans
to attend as many things as you canenjoy.Don’t forget to thank the folkswho have done all the preliminarywork and if you see a frazzledorganizer give them anunderstanding smile and a sincereoffer to help might be appreciatedjust about now.Enjoy the fresh growth and now
the weeds need some attention.
Bye now
