Sympathy is extended to the
family of Duke Buffinga who passed
away this past week.
Many Edgar relatives made the
trip to the original home farm for the
weekend. This was hosted by Don
Edgar. Everyone enjoyed fireworks
Sunday night and the children had
fun with the sparklers.
During the afternoon some walked
along the riverside while others
visited. There were many playing
golf on Monday morning at the
Wingham golf course while others
enjoyed walks to the bush and some
went fishing.
Many arrive Sunday and camp for
the night even if it is cold. Some
years it has snowed on the weekend
but that doesn’t dampen the fun.
After playing golf they return to a
barbecue lunch and an afternoon of
fun and games. Many years there has
been a tug of war with girls
against the boys. There are
also games of horseshoes and
volleyball.
Special guests were Irlma Edgar
and Helen Stonehouse of Wingham
and Mait and Mary Edgar of
Petrolia.
A potluck supper is enjoyed
before everyone goes their separate
ways to meet again in August for a
pool party.
Those attending were from
Aylmer, Belgrave, Blyth, Brigden,
Clinton, Goderich, London,
Lucknow, Petrolia, Tavistock and
Wingham.
From the very young of four
generations to the oldest generation
everyone looks forward to the May
24 weekend at the farm and the fun
of being together.
The volunteers and citizens of
Blyth through their time and
donations toward the Cancer
Campaign raised a total of $2,097.
Convenor Mary Lou Stewart
appreciates everyone’s support.
BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on May 20 were Jessica and Emily
Dunbar. Ushering were Emily
Phillips, Fred Hakkers and Jessica
Dunbar. Guest organist was Lynda
McGregor. Emily Phillips spoke
about the Two Minutes for Teens and
loose change was collected in coffee
cups.
Guest speaker, Tom Dunbar,
welcomed everyone.
The first hymn In The Bulb, was
followed by the Prayer of
Confession and the Assurance of
Pardon. The choir sang an anthem
Heaven’s Jubilee.
The children’s hymn was He
Came Singing Love. Mr. Dunbar
asked each child what they wanted
to be when they grew up. He had
many answers such as a zoologist,
hockey player, cowboy and even,
Me. Everyone wants to be
something different and adults are
here to help children realize their
dreams.
The Lord’s Prayer was sung with
the children doing the actions.
Lorna Fraser, Sunday School
superintendent, thanked everyone
for attending the Sunday school’s
pancake breakfast.
The scripture readings were the
97th Psalm and from Genesis.
Mr. Dunbar’s message to the
adults was Teenagers. A teenager is
caught between a child and an adult,
a difficult position for many.
Teenagers volunteer for many
things. Teachers try to challenge
teenagers and help them realize their
goals.
Hopefully, he said, teenagers will
benefit from the new minister that is
being hired by the Huron/Perth
Presbytery for the youth of the
area.
There were many teenagers in the
Bible, Joseph and David being two
of them. Most historians believe that
the apostles were teens.
Many teenagers are involved in
many churches.

For comfort
Members of the Airstream club who visited Blyth for their spring rally this weekend, spent their
time in a worthy cause. Saturday morning, the ‘bee’ collected blankets for Project Linus, that
members have worked on over the year. Over 60 blankets and about 50 ‘preemie’ hats were
handmade for the organization. The blankets are presented to the Regional Chapter of
the project, then distributed to the host area at which the rally was held. One half will be
going to London’s Sick Kids and the other half to St. Marys, to be given to children in need.
