side at Listowel Memorial Hospital
on Monday, May 7, 2007. She
resided in Listowel and was formerly
of Atwood.
Jean was born 89 years ago in Grey
Twp., a daughter of the late William
and Henrietta (Pawson) Lowe.
She enjoyed playing cards,
quilting, crocheting, knitting and was
the resident seamstress of Caressant
Care Retirement Home. Jean was a
former member of Cranbrook
Women’s Institute, a former 4-H
leader and enjoyed watching local
fastball games.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Jack Conley who predeceased
her in 1998. She was the loving
mother of Marg and Harvey Clarke of
RR1, Atwood, Wilma and Doug
Rathwell of Atwood and Doug and
Virginia Conley of RR1, Ethel. She
was the special nana of 13
grandchildren, two
stepgrandchildren, 22 great-
grandchildren and two stepgreat-
grandchildren. She will also be
remembered by stepsister Mildred
Douglas of Listowel, stepsisters-in-
law Marguerite Beirnes of Listowel,
Alice Lowe of Saskatchewan, Ethel
Hudson of Listowel and by many
stepnieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by 10
stepbrothers and five stepsisters.
Jean’s family invited relatives and
friends to share their memories at
Peebles Funeral Home, 141 John St.,
Atwood, on Thursday, May 10 from 2
- 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held atMelville Presbyterian Church,Brussels on Friday, May 11 at 11 a.m.
Rev. Cathrine Campbell officiated.
Interment followed in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.

MARGARET BETSY (BETTY)
ELLIOTT
Margaret Betsy (Betty) Elliott
passed away peacefully at the Clinton
Public Hospital on Monday, May 7,
2007. She was in her 86th year.
Betty was the daughter of the late
Roderick and Mabel Johnston,
Goderich, Ontario. She was the
beloved wife of the late Gordon Boyd
Elliott and loving mother of the late
Bertram Grant Elliott, both of Blyth.
They predeceased her in 2001. She
was the loving mother to John (Bev)
Elliott, Donald (Sandra) Elliott and
Betsy (Bryan) Allan, all of Blyth. She
will be sadly missed by nine
grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren as well as many nieces
and nephews. Betty is also survived
by sister-in-law Dorothy Elliott of
Guelph.
She was also predeceased by two
brothers, Eric and Grant Johnston,
four brothers-in-law, Alex, Frank and
Bertram Elliott and Lloyd Wettlaufer
and two sisters-in-law, Marion Elliott
and Gertrude Wettlaufer.
At Mrs. Elliott’s request, there was
no funeral home visitation.
Cremation has taken place and a
private family graveside service willbe held at Blyth Union Cemetery.Donations to the Blyth Greenway
Memorial Gardens, Clinton Public
Hospital Foundation or the charity of
one’s choice would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.

ROBERT EARL HULLEY
Robert Earl Hulley of Seaforth
passed away at Seaforth Community
Hospital on Sunday, May 13, 2007 in
his 84th year.
He was the beloved husband of
Margaret Walker for 50 years, and
dear father of Bob and Janet Hulley,
Sandy and Ev Robinson, David
Hulley and Debbie and Glen Haney.
He is survived as well by
grandchildren Peggy, Marie, and
Heather Hulley, Becky and Greg
Hoogenes, Nick, Meagan, Craig
Robinson, Rachel, David, and Brian
Haney; brothers Frank and wife Betty
Hulley, and Bill and wife Pat Hulley
and sister Molley Cameron.
Mr. Hulley was predeceased by one
son Daniel Roger Hulley (1974), his
parents Robert and Ella (Drager)
Hulley, a brother Melvin and his wife
Violet Hulley, and brother-in-law
George Cameron.
Robert was a member of the Loyal
Orange Lodge.
Friends were received at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, 87
Goderich St. W., Seaforth on
Tuesday, May 15 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9
p.m.
The funeral service was held on
Wednesday, May 16 at 3 p.m. at the
Bethel Bible Church, Seaforth.
Interment was in Staffa Cemetery.Pallbearers were Ev Robinson,Glen Haney, David Hulley, Robert
Hulley, David Haney and Nick
Robinson. Flowerbearers were
Peggy, Marie and Heather Hulley,
Becky and Greg Hoogenes, Meagan
and Craig, Robinson, Rachel, and
Brian Haney.

R. JOE KERR
Joe Kerr of RR2, Bluevale, passed
away suddenly on Monday, May 7,
2007. Born in Wingham on Jan. 9,
1952, Joe was in his 56th year.
Joe was the loving husband of 33
years of Dolores (Whitby) Kerr. He
was the cherished Dad and father-in-
law of Kara Daw and husband Shawn
of Brussels, Cheryl Riegling and
husband Beau of Wingham, and
Robert Kerr and his friend Jessica at
home. He was the treasured grandpa
and “Rascal” of Tory Lynn and
Taylor Daw and Allison Riegling. Joe
was the dear son of Pauline Dickson
of Listowel. He was the dear brother
of Ruth Bell of Kitchener and Brian
Kerr of Alberta and dear son-in-law
of Rhea Whitby of Lucknow. Joe was
the dear brother-in-law of Cheryl
Loftis and Joe Beylerian of
Brampton, Barb Jardine of Wingham,
Donald Whitby of Lucknow, Andy
and Jackie Whitby of Utica, New
York, and Richard Whitby of
Lucknow.
He was predeceased by his father
David.Joe had a strong work ethic andloved his work at the Campbell
Company of Canada. He was an
employee at the Listowel plant for 38
years. Joe started off working in
shipping and receiving and worked
his way up to cost accounting. Joe
loved playing practical jokes on his
co-workers.
Joe’s desire to farm started when
they bought the farm they have to this
day, where he raised broiler chickens
for 20 years and enjoyed working the
land.
Friends were received by the
family on Thursday from the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home.
The funeral service was conducted
from St. John’s Anglican Church on
Friday, May 11 with Rev. Tom
Wilson officiating.
Eulogies were given by his
children Kara, Cheryl and Robert,
and Joe’s nephew and godson, David
Bell. A scripture reading was read by
his sister Ruth Bell.
Pallbearers were Sundip Bajaj,
Keith Kerr, Laurie Campbell, Tim
Darlow, Dennis Machan and Bob
Clarkson. Burial took place in Elma
Centre Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, a
memorial donation may be made to
the Children’s Hospital of Western
Ontario or to the Western Ontario
Athletic Association “Building for
our Future” Fund.
Joe will be sadly missed by his
family.
