Stuffing
This trio were among those who gathered last week at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship to
volunteer their time to the Huron Hospice Volunteer Service. Piles of letters concerning their
Wings of a Dove campaign needed to reach area homes and these ladies stepped up to the
plate to stuff the envelopes and get them ready to send. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
Worshippers of Knox United
Church, Belgrave, were welcomed
by Kathy McCracken and Marvin
Cook, as they entered the church for
the special Mother’s Day service
and baptism of Carson James
Bromley.
Rev. Ethel Miner Clare conducted
the service with Elizabeth Procter at
the organ. Lila Procter accompanied
the hymns with her guitar.
The flowers on the piano were
placed there in memory of Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Smith, by their daughter’s
family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lamont.
Flowers were also placed at the front
of the church in memory of Jean
Hopper by her family.
The junior choir, led by Mrs.
Procter and accompanied by
Elizabeth Stennett, sang God’s Love
and I’d Like To Teach The World To
Sing.
During the singing of Jesus Bids
Us Shine the children of the
congregation gathered at the front of
the church for story time, and to
witness the baptism. Matthew
Cottrill was called to the front to
receive a gift for his confirmation
next week.
Joyce Vincent, clerk of session,
presented Matthew Bromley to the
congregation by transfer for his
membership from the Dungannon
United Church. He was welcomed
by the congregation.
Mrs. Vincent then presented
Carson James, son of Ashley and
Matthew Bromley for baptism.
Amelia Pletch was asked to pour the
water into the baptismal font for the
service. After the repeating of their
vows, Mr. and Mrs. Bromley were
presented with a lit candle as a
symbol of Carson’s baptism, and
with a Bible.
Carson was also welcomed into
the congregation.
Carl and Ellen Procter gathered
the offering after Rev. Clare’s
message about promises. The
service closed with the singing of
I’ve Got Peace Like A River, the
sending forth, and the choral
benediction – May the Blessing of
God.
