PLEASING MEETING
The Regular Meeting Took the Form
Of A -Christmas, Party

The Chistmas Supper Meeting of the
Lions Club was held at the Queen's
Hotel on Friday evening with a good
attendance, Tailtwister Wally Arm-
strong reported to 'resident Frank
Madill that several Lion were missing
and he felt sure they were outside.
President Frank directed to secure
help and bring in all the Lions.
Lions Hugh Carmichael and How-
ard Sherbondy carried in Lion Ron Rae
and returned to carry in Lion Jack Mc-
Kibbon, They were laid on a Stretch-
er and with assistance of other Lions,
Lion Gard. Buchanan in a surgical
gown examined them with a stetho-
scope. He claimed that Lion Jack Mc-
Kibbon had received 350 volts (votes)
and Lion Ron Rae had received 298
volts (votes) and the shock was too
much for them. Lion Ron was bound
up with ropes and these were removed
by wards with grass shears. Once
Lions Ron and Jack were on their' feet,
they were pronounced to be still good
Lions. Lion Clayton Gammage came
in for some attention from Tailtwister
Wally when he was accused of over-
working his staff until 7.30 one even-
ing. Lion Wally claimed he should div-
ide his business with the other bank.
Mr. Kenneth Kerr was a guest of the

William Stokes
The death occurred in Wingham
General Hoapital, on Monday, of
Liam Stokes, well known Wingham res-
ident, in his 78th year. Mr. Stokes had
not enjoyed good health for the past
eight months having suffered a stroke
at that time. On Sunday he took a

couver Lions Club were placed on sale
and promptly disposed off. After a
sing-song of Christmas numbers led
by. Lion Tather Jack Reavie, with Lion
Harold Pyin at ',the piano, Tailtwister
Wally Armstrong and his assistant,
Lion Art Irwin took charge. Lion Wal-
ly announced that the entertainment
would take the Lions back to their
school days. As each name was called,
the Lion had to proceed to the front,
bow and recite the poetry handed to
him by Lion Wally, President Frank
,Madill recited the poem, Holly Berries
and Lion Bob Hetherington favored
with "'Mother Goose", Lion Clayton
Gammage offered good advice on
"Early Christmas Shopping". Lions
Howard Sherbondy, Gard. Buchanan,
Cehil Merkley and Dr, Ross led in sing-
ing "Jingle Bells". Lion 'Doc. Howson
described the scene "At the Post Of-
fice" and Lion Hal MacLean offered
an amusing number "The Yule Log."
Lion Al. Walker told of "Early Shop-
ping" and Lion Sam Burton offered a
solo number a Christmas; Carol, "I
Wonder as I Wander" as sung in the
Hill-Billy Country. Lion Bill Galbraith
recited "Little Miss 'Muffet and Lion
Clarence Armitage presented "Para-
dise Lost." Lion Wilbur Tiffin told of
"Christmas Spirits" and Lion Stan
64 „ Hall described "Santa Brought up to
Date." A Quartette, Lions Bill McCool,
A Ron Rae, Jack McKibbon and Omar
Haselgrove sang "Hark, the Herald
Angels Sing." Lion Emery Stuckey

Wednesday, December 10th, when
Edith Pearl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred W. Cook, Belgrave, became the
bride of Stanley Jackson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Russell A. Walker, Wing-
ham. Rev, W. J. Moores conducted the
ceremony. White tapers awl mums de-
corated the church.
Given in marriage by her father, the
bride looked lovely in a floor-length
gown of white slipper satin, with a
yoke of Swiss sheer, The full skirt and
bustle back ended a short train, Her
finger-tip veil was of embroidered net

McCreight, George and William John
Coulter,
second stroke from which he did not
rally. Born near London, England, he
came to Wingham 44 years ago. For
over thirty years he was employed by
the town, retiring four years ago, He
was a member of the Baptist Church

Surviving besides his wife, the forinir
Harriet Parker, are a son, Arthur or
Wingham, a daughter, Mrs, Mary Mar-
tin of London, and three grandchild
