by acclamation at Friday nominations
with Mr. George Walker taking Mr.
Lewis Ruddy's place as Councillor and
there will be. an election for Reeve on

and Lewis Ruddy competing.
Mr. and Mrs. Gershom Johnston,
Alice, Jimmie and. Jack, spent Sunday
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas,
Wood of Seaford',
Mr. Morris Sorthing of Indian Head,
Sask., is spending the winter months
in Ontario, having come East with Mr.
Wilfred Walker, when he came back
front Sask.
Mrs. lien McClcnaghan has been
under the Doctor's care during the
past week and Mrs. Bill Parker and
children of London, have been with
her. It will 'be of interest to many to
know that Mr. and Mrs. Parker and
family motored through the States dur-
ing October and went to Vancouver,
and from there to Nattaitno, on Van-
tourer Island to visit for two weeks
at the home of her sister, Mrs. Stanley
Leeson. They went when going West,
North to Calgary and found lots of
snow there, but otherwise, the weather
and roads were grand.
Don't forget the Comedy Drama,
Lena Rivers which is being presented
this'Wednesday evening in the Memor-
ial Hall here, under the auspices of the
Women's Institute by the Progressive
Class of Kincardine United Church.

Eighteen members were present for
the November meeting of the Women's
Association United Church, on Tues-
day last. Mrs. Harvey McMichael and
Mrs. Wes Newton ' were in ' charge.
The Roll Call was answered by a verse
containing the word "Perfect". Quilt-
ing took up the greater part of the af-
ternoon. Pot Luck Supper was served
at the close.
Mission Band --
The November meeting of the Buds
of Promise 'Mission Band was held in
United `Church schoolroom on ' Mon-
day last. The meeting opened with soft
music, Evelyn Anger at the piano. Pres-
ident, Marilyn MacLean presided. All
repeated the purpose and sang the
opening hymn, Give to God our Utmost
Praise. Donald Gibson led in prayer,
followed by repeating the Lord's
Prayer in unison; Betty Newton pres-
ented the Scripture lesson, Exodns,
Chapter 20, verses 1 -17, all the child-
ren joined in singing In my heart them
rings a melody. Thirty-nine members
answered the Roll Call. Mrs. Lloyd
Magee told the Story, Shera hears new
voices, taken from the Study Book,
urged to come to the next meeting

prepared to , subscribe for World
Friends, The hymn What a Friend
we have in Jesus and the Mizpah bene-
diction brought an interesting meeting
to a close, Mrs. Stuart. Higgins and
Mrs. Harvey Reidt were the leaders
in charge.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rae and son,
Douglas of Hanover, were guests of the
former's mother, on Thursday. Miss
Jessie Strachan and her nephew, Mr.
Thomas Strachan of ,Brussels, were
Sunday visitors at the same home.

nesday, November 19th, 1947, follow-
ing a lingering illness there entered in-
to rest a lifelong and highly esteemed
Citizen in the person of Mr. Alex
Wright.
Alex Wright known to his friends as
"Sandy" was born in Turnberry Town-
ship in 1879, a son of- the late Wm.
Wright and Jessie McIntosh Wright.
In 1906 he was married to Margaret
J. Finlay of Howick, who with five
children survives, William, Mrs, Allan
Munro (Laura), Mrs. Leslie Douglas,
(Margaret), all of this community;
G , Mrs. Gordon 'Greig (Vera), Bluevale;
Mrs. Wm. Lowe (Irene), Barkway,
Ontario, also six grandchildren, three
sisters, Mrs. Win. Listowet;
Mrs, Thomas Simpson, Brussels; Mrs.
Richard Bennett, Conquest, Sask„ two
brothers, Frank, Wroxeter;
Fillmore, Sask. A. sister, Mrs. Prank
Green predeceased him two years ago.
Mr. Wright who farmed in this dis-
trict, until his retirement lit 1942, was
a good neighbour and kind friend and
101 be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held on Satur-
day from the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Wright. Rev. U. E. Cronhiehrt
United Church, Was in charge assisted
by Rev. John Greig of Collingwood,
who sang "race to Pace". Pallbearers
were William Simpson, Allister Green,
Harold Finlay, Stuart Higgins, Jack
MacLean, Ray Loutitt, Flower bearers,
Arthur Green, Andrew Simpson, Prank
Graham, George Harris, Harvey Mc-
Michael, Andy Gibson, Intement Was
made in Wroxeter cemetery.

house and lot, East of the village from
Mr. John Mowbray.
Rev. and Mrs, W. J. Watt spent the
week-end with relatives in Toronto and
Mr. Watt had charge of the services
in Oakwood 'United Church, his form-
er 'home Church.
Mr., Henry McGee spent a week in
Toronto with his son, Mr. Roy McGee
and •attended the Winter Pair.
Mr. Albert Coultes has been ill from
a heart attack during the past week,
and under the Dr's care and has 'been
advised to lay off work or a month.

has been sent to Fort Stewart, Ont-
ario, through the efforts of the local

of the difficulty of language involved
in the first translation-of the Bible into

Indians, and she conducted a Quiz,

Falconer gave a very interesting report
of the recent Presbyterial meeting held
at 1311tevale. The ladies decided to send
a bale to the Fred Victor ,Mission in
Toronto, and asked for new and used
clothing. Mrs. J. G. Gillespie led in
prayer for the Missionary workers, and
Mrs. Emerson closed the meeting with
Ontario's fast-growing .
