Women's Missionary Society The July meeting of the W.M.S. of the United Church, was held in the church school room on Friday, July 11th, :The meeting was called to order with quiet music, Miss K. Hazelwood at the 'piano. The President, Mrs. Mun: roe was in the chair and the Invoca- tion was followed by the singing of the hymn Behold the Mountains of tine Lord. Mrs. D. W. Mrs, Gordon A. -Gibson spent part of last week with Ifer daughters, Lulu and Bonny at London, going on to Ridgetown to visit Mrs—jRlin Camp- bell, a former resident here. Mr. Barton Edwards, Thornhill, Mr, John Edwards, Toronto, sons of Mr.. and Aiso.re, George Edwards, were here last week to attend the funeral services for their uncle, the late WITI,EdWards,- ofBell: Congratulationi -to jimmy Wylie, Billy Hart and William Harrison, all of whom were successful in passing their Entrance Examinations, the for- mer two with honours. Their teacher is principal Harold Hamilton of the Wroxeter Public School, Mr. and Mrs, L, F.- McLaughlin of Oshawa, were called her during the week owing to the serious illness of Miss Eli2a McLaughlin, who resides with Miss Margaret Jardine. Mr. Ted Smith local garage man had his home struck with lightning on. Thursday evening. The bolt struck the, chimney demolished it, going down of "Bearing one _another's Burdens"`.• The hymn, Break day of God and the benediction brought the Devotional period to a close, The shower of arti- -cies asked for to be forwarded to a Missionary in Japan, brought a fine response. Three bpxes were packed containing new and used clothing, un- derwear, hose, wool kerchiefs, print, ilannellette, soap, medical supplies, klim, carnation milk, raisins, canned fruit, soups, junket, gum, candy and other usethl articles, valued at $20:00„ also cash donations to cover postage. Members of the WKS. are grateful for gifts and money received from many outside their group. The send- ing of the boxes was a follow up of Miss aurd's visit, when she was the guest speaker at the Easter Thank- offering meeting. A social hour fiat- lowed when delicious refreshments were served by members of the H,M.S. W. I. Annual Picnic Members of the Wroxeter Branch of the Women's Institute have organ- ized to plan their annual picnic which will be held on the afternoon of Aug.,. ust (6th), Wednesday.
