Made possible by the financial sup-
port of the Wingham Lions Club, the
new lights should' be a decided asset
to sport in town and the surrounding
community. Worthy mention might al-
so be made of the untiring .efforts. of
Mr. R. A. Coutts, President of the
..Wingham Softball Association, and
genial Sam Burton, Recreational Dir-
ector for their wholehearted support in
making sport tops in Wingham,
Port Elgin opened the scoring in the
second Innings on hits by Bell and •
Smith to score one run, only to have
the Hurons roar back with two in the
same frame, Niergarth doubled and
Tommy Jardine came through with a
smash to centre field to make the score
2.1, After this innings the locals were
never threatened as they ;combined for
a total of fourteen bits to soundly tro-
unce the Laketiders, The Hurons
scored six runs in the fifth on six bits,
Niergarth circuited, and Lediett re-
peated the feat only to have Umpire
Cowan overrule giving Bill two bases.
Gateman for the visitors had ten
strikeouts to his credit but received
poor, support from his teammates,
Despite the one-sided score the game
provided plenty of excitement and dun.
