, -Wild Runaway—On Monday, Char-
les Campbell of Marpoch, was at Dr,
Kennedy's •office (Ed. note- now Dr.
Crawford's), and as his horse was
somewhat restive, be took the precau-
flow of tying him in Dr, Kennedy's
yard, In a few minutes a crash was
heard; the horse had bro'ken loose, and
soon got away from a wrecked buggy,
Then the animal sell, but regaining his
feet tore down Main street, At the
Bank of Hamilton (Ed. note—now
Bank of Commerce) he took to the
sidewalk, and when in front of Hotel
Brunswick fell heavily on his side, The
rate at which hp was going carried him
en his side past three shops (Ed. note-
too bad CKNX wasn't there to give a
play by play account of the excite-
ment). At Gracey's (Ed, note- now
Fryfogle's) furniture store, he got up
and near Mr. Manner's shop fell again,
Once more he got on his feet and ran
up Victoria street. Those who saw ths
animal fall felt sure he was killed, but
the owner secured another buggy and
d rove home.
West Wawanosh— On Sunday even-
ing Some young folks had a narrow
escape .from serious accident on the
4th con,, West Wawanosh, near the
village, A couple of rigs got racing and
coming up behind another one there
was a collision resulting in the upset-
ting of both into the ditches. The in-
nocent parties unfortunately Were the
ones to suffer the most. John McWhin-
ney's buggy was badly damaged arid he
and Geo. Pentland, who' was with him,
were badly scratched and shaken up',
while the other fellow and his girl es-
caped • with some tom dress goods.
That is what comes of racing horses on
Sunday evening.

The W.M.S. and Mission Band met
at the home of Mrs. Norman McDow-
ell on Wednesday afternoon with 20
W.M.S. members and 2 visitors pres-
ent, and 26 members and several vis-
itors of the Mission Band present.
The Mission Band, with Mrs. Norman
McDowell and Mrs. Chas. Smith as
leaders, put on a splendid programme.
The. meeting opened by singing "Jesus
bids 15s Shine". Scripture lesson was
read by Evelyn Cook, prayer_ by Mrs,
Frank Campbell. The Band repeated
"Our Purpose" with Lawrence Camp-
bell as leader. Duets were given by
Barbara Smith and Alice Hayden; Lois
Campbell and Ruth Cook; Piano duet,
Irene and Gladys McClinchey; Piano
solp,.. Lorna Buchanan; Readings tiby
,Gerald McDowell, Gwendolyn Mc-
Dowell, Johnny Buchanan, Ronald
Snell, Gordon Smith, Harvey Snell,
Mrs. Marvin McDowell told the child-
ren an interesting story, which was
enjoyed by all present. The study
book was given on India by Mae
Wightman, The Pres, Mrs. Wm. Mc-
Vittie had charge of the business. The
roll was called, eath present respond-
ing with a verse of scripture, The
president reported on the work done
at the church, and a splendid donation
was given by the ladies who were un-
able 'to help at the bees.. The meeting
closed with prayer. Lunch was ser-
ved by the group and Band members
and a social time was spent.
Mrs. Stanley Cook spent the. week-
end with Mrs, R. Vincent ,at their cot-
tage at Bogies Beach.

There was a large attendance of
both ladies and children at the annual
thildren's meeting d the Women's
Institute held at the .home of Mrs.
Fred McOuillin. The roll call, a place
world like to visit and why, received
an interesting response, The Huron
County. Hospitalitation plan was
cussed, but as there \\MA not the re-
quired number prepared to join at the
preaent time, no action could be taken,

agreed to raise the price of admisaion
