United Church W.M.S. The regular meeting of the United Church Women's Missionary Society was held at the home of Mrs, Ewart Whitfield on Thursday afternoon,.Dec, 5th, The program convenor was Mrs. Michel, who led the members in a Christmas Candlelight Service. A globe was placed in the centre of the, table with six candles arranged around it 'so that three lighted the map of dia, and three the map of Canada.. Six ladies took part in the service,- three representing India and three Canada. Christmas carols opened the service, followed by a poem by the leader; the scrpture was taken from Isaiah 9:2-7.' The Candlelighting service followed closing with a prayer written by a Ta- mil hymn writer. Most of the familiar Christmas carols were used through- out the service, During the business_ period Mrs. Howse conducted the ection of the officers for the coming year. BELGRAVE The Y.P.U. met in the basement of the United Church, on Friday even- ing, December 6th. Geo. Michie was in charge of the meeting. The scrip- ture was read by Mrs. Bob Grasby, and the topic was` taken by Mrs. Jas. Michie, Geo. Johnston read part of an address which had been given at Clin- ton by Dr.. McClure. Miss Elaine Walsh led in singing Christmas carols, The meeting was closed with prayer. Mr. Jack Armstrong spent the week- end at his home here.
