noon, extend best wishes for a long
and happy wedded life. On their re-
turn from their wedding trip, Mr. and
Walker will reside on the Walker
home farm, while Mr. and Mrs. George
Walker and family, have moved to the
farm they purchased from Mr. Reeve
Currie.

several months in the West, returned
home last week.

resented at the Plowing Match at Port

Me. and Mrs. John Fitch of Belmore,
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. David Craig and fam-
ily of Blyth, were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Archie Scott on Sunday,
Mrs. T, Short and Miss Myrtle spent
Tuesday in Toronto.
The Girls' Auxiliary of St. Stephen's
Church met at the rectory 'on Monday
evening, and with some assistance
from Senior members and mothers a
quilt was quilted. Devotional exercis-
es were conducted by Mrs. J. C. Caley
after which lunch was Served,

The October meeting of the Worn-
aces Missionary Society was held' at
Mrs. Whitley's home on Thursday
evening with seventeen ladies present,
Mrs, A, Stephens had charge 'of the
devotional Vagrant with the thane,
our Church Membership in
Christlike lives. Mrs, Hastie played
qtriet music which was followed by a
prayer, Litany for rural people led 'by
Mrs, Stephens. We sang hymn "Jesus
Calls Us o'er the Tumult" and Leader
led ht prayer. Scriptural passages
were read by Mrs. Bradnock, Mrs.
Hastie and Mrs. Gamble. ,Mrs, Maine
sang a begto spiritual, "Lord I want to
be a Christian in My I-1mq".
A poem "The Indian Road" was
read by Mrs. W, Xing. After singing
hymn Prayer to my Heart, Mrs. Step-
hens and Mrs. Hastie very ably ,pre-
sented the study, India at the Thresh-
hold.

ends spent the week-end at the home

Fire has been 'burning in Mr. John
Falconer's bush between the 10th and
12th of E. Wawanosh for the past
month, and during the past week start-
ed to spread dangerously close to sur-
rounding woods belonging to Harold
Walker, Lawrence Taylor, Charles
Sbiell On Sunday men gathered to see
what should be done, and they decided
to bring in the bull dozer and clear a
ditch around it, to encircle it, in an
effort to keep from spreading too far.
Wawanosh friends gathered in
the Red School on Friday night last to
honour Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woods,
(nee Arid Johnston of Seaforth, Dur-
ing the evening the couple were pre-
sented with a purse of money, and
thanked their friends for their kindness
and their remembrance. Tiffin's or-
chestra supplied music for the dancing
that followed.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Davis of Tor-
onto, spent a few days with .Mr. and
Mrs. Lawrence Taylor.
Mrs. Ruttan presided for business per-
iod when plans were made to attend
the sectional meeting to be held at
Whitchurch and for our Thankoffering
meeting in November.
After a season of silent prayer for
the missionaries laboring in India,
Hymn The Heavens declare Thy
Glory, Lord, was sung and the meet-
ing closed with the Benediction.
DONNYBROOK
Anniversary services will be held in
Donnybrook United Church on Sun-
day, October 13th., at 2.30 in the af-
ternoon and '7.30 in the evening. The
guest speaker at both services will be
Rev. Stanley Brenton of Ethel. Mem-
bers of Knox United Church, Auburn,
will assist in the service of song, spec-
ial numbers will be contributed in the
afternoon, by a trio composed of Mrse
F. Plaetzer Mrs. S. McClinchey, and
Mrs. W. J. Craig, and in the evening,
duets by the Misses June and Betty
Marsh. All are cordially invited to
attend these services.
