close margin of 11-10. Despite the in-
clement cool weather, the game was
played in record time, and a thriller

OBITUARY
Mrs. Wm. Martin!
The death occurred at. her home,
Lot 29, Con. 12, East Wawanosh, on
Friday, August 23rd., of Mrs. Win.
Martin in .her 91st year.
The former 'Margaret Laidlaw, was
born in New Aberdeen, Waterloo
County, the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. James Laidlaw. -She receiv-
ed her education in Auburn and in
1862 came to this district. She was
married in September 1879, to Mr.
'Win. Martin who predeceased her.
Surviving are one son, James Henry
Martin, Southampton, Ontario, two
sisters, Mrs. Wm. (Jessie) Jackson,
Toronto; Christina, Whitechurch, eight
grandchildren, fourteen great grand-
children and one great great grand-
child. Two sons, Daniel and Joseph,
predeceased her.
She was a member of the United
Church. The funeral service was held
from her late residence on Sunday af-
ternoon, with 'interment in Wingham
cemetery. The pallbearers were Wm.
Martin, Donald Martin, Robert Stew-
art, Emerson Austin, Malcolm Mc-
Neil and Lorne McAllister,
Mrs. James Moffett'
Mrs. James Moffatt, the former Jean
Stewart, died in Wingham General
Hospital on Sunday, August 24th in
her 85th year. She 'had been in poor
health for two and one-half years.
The late Mrs. Moffatt was horn in
Brock Township and is the last of a
family of four. Sixt4n years ago she
was married to James Moffatt, Wing-
ham, who mourns her passing. .A,frs.
Moffatt was a member of the Presby-
terian Church. .
The funeral service, conducted by
the Rev. K. McLean of Exeter, was
held from her late- residence, Leopold
Street on Wednesday, August 28th at
2 p.m., with interment in Wroeeter
cemetery. The pallbearers were Stan-
ley Hall, William Hammond, John Ra-
by, William Haney, Richard Lloyd,
Thomas Weir.
