as Thou wilt and when and where".
If we use the talents God has given us
and do our best, they will be blessed.
Mrs, Ruttan conducted the business
period, There was silent prayer for
the members of the family of the late
Mrs, Geo. Dane, who was a faithful
member of the W.M.S.
Plans were made to send Misses Er-
land Gregg and Maxine Parrish to the
Training School at Alma College,
Hymn, "When Mothers of Salem"
was sung and the meeting closed with
repeating the Lord's prayer in unison.
The gathering consisting of W.M.S.
members, and members of the
congregation with their children rear-
ed to the law where contests and gam-
es were enjoyed, sponsored by Mrs. C.
Black and Mrs, P. Ashton, A bount-
eous picnic lunch was served.

chased the residence of the late Mrs.
Isaac Wade,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hyndinati motor-
ed to Toronto on Sunday and spent
the holidays with friends there.
Mr. Don Campbell of Molesworth,
has purchased the mill from Mr.,Geo
Nichol and gets possession on, Sept,
15th. Mr. Nichol has bought a mill in
Listowel, and will be moving there
next month.
Mrs, A, McLaughlin is visiting with
friends in Toronto.
Mr. and., Mrs. Sandy Hastie, Arlene
and Sandra, of Taranto, have been
spending their vacation with the for-
mer's brother, Mr. Ken Hastie and
Mrs. Hastie.
Mr. Archie Edgar of -London, spent
the week-end with his brother, Mr.

The death occurred on Monday
morning, July 29th., of Wm. Henry
Gregg, at his home in Gorrie. De-
ceased had been in delicate health
for about three years but was able to
be around the house until recently.
He was born in the township of
Howick, on Nov. 17th., 1862. On
Sept. 21, 1887, he was married to
Minnie Evans, daughter of the late
Wm. Evans also of Howick township,
and they resided on the farm, south
of Gorrie, now occupied by his son,
Carroll, until their retirement to the
village ten years ago. •
Surviving are his wife, one daugh-
ter, Mrs. Cecil Day, (Edith Mildred);
one son, Carroll, three grandchildren
and one great grandchild, all of How-
ick, also two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Dar-
rocle., (Mae), Calgary; Mrs. D. A.
Harkness, (Minnie), Edmonton; and
one brother, George of Calgary,
While health permitted him to at-
tend, he was an active and faithful
member first of - the Methodist, and
later the United Church, being Sunday
School Superintendent for thirty years,
also an elder, and later an honorary
elder. He was a director of the How-
ick Insurance Co., for fifteen years, he
also served in the Howick Council
and was a member of Gorric L.O.L.
767, also Director of Howick Agric-
ultural Society.
The funeral Was held on Wednes-
day, afternoon, service in the :United
Church being conducted by Rev. J. L.
Foster of Wroxeter, in the absence
through illness of his. pastor, Rev. G.
G. Howse, Mr. and Mrs, Harvey
Sparling'sang a duet. Interment took
place in Gorrie cemetery.
The pallbearers were Howard Wy-
lie, Wroxeter; John Bryans, Harris-
ton; Fred Hyndrhan, Harvey Snar-
ling, Leonard Ruttan, and Anson Rut-
tan, Gorrie,
Flower bearers were W. C. King,
little •granddaughters returned with
her for a short holiday,

the funeral of the late Mr. W. H.
Gregg on Wednesday last were, Mr.
and Mrs. Archie Gregg, Mr. Dick

Salford; Mr, and Mrs. Geo. Groves,'

visiting friends in Toronto and Osha-

the holiday week-end with Mr. and
Mrs. Geote Foster,
'Miss Lizzie McKee is spending
some time in Toronto.
Dr. A. Allan of Goderich, will have
charge of the service at the United
Church next Sunday morning,
Mr, and Mrs. Joe Earngey of Han-•
over, spent the holiday with friends
here.
Farmers are being favored with fine
weather and the prospects are that. it
will be over early this year. A few
have already finished and are threshed
out,
Miss Grace Harper has returned af-
ter spending a couple of weeks at the
Woodeden Camp, near London.
Mrs. Brooks of Elmira, conducted
the service in the Presbyterian church
on Sunday.
Bert Howse is at Goderich at a boys
camp this week.
Miss Jean Lohr is enjoying some
holidays with her grandmother, Mrs,
Lahr and other friends at Kutzville,
Mr, W. Richman of Stratford, is vis-
iting at Mr. Jas. Douglas'.
Grant Montgomery of Kitchener, is
spending holidays with hiSgrandpar-
ents, Mr. and Mrs.. John Montgomery.
Mrs. Geo. Nichol'was a London vis-
itor last week.
Miss Kate Earngey was a Harriston
visitor on Wednesday of last week.
Mr. John Beecroft, Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Beecroft and Janet, Mrs. Dow
and family, Belgrave, and Mr. Melville
I3eecroft, Otterville, were guests of Mr
and Mrs. Hector Hamilton on Sunday.

were guests of Mr. and Mrs, T. Brad-
flock over the holiday.
Miss Rose Howse of Stratford, spent
last week with her parents at the -par-
sonage. -

Hespeler for the holiday.

gus, were visitors at Mr. M. Watson's
for the past week. Mr. Howard Stew-
art, was also a visitor at the Watson
home.
At a bait game at the park Monday
evening when. Harriston played Gor-
rie, the Gorrie team were the winners
with a score of 11 to, 5.

recent visitors at the home ofW. J. and

Miss Victoria Wilson, Listowel, was
a recent guest with Mr. and Mrs. Art
Stephens.
The Late James King
In loving memory of R. James King
who peacefully passed away from this
world on Monday, July. 22nd, in his
85th year, Great sorrow was left in
the hearts of the two surviving mem-
bers of hi,s family, his son, Walter, and
a daughter, Gertrude preceeding James
in death were his wife, his eldest dau-
ghter, Ethyl, who died in 1926, and his
youngest daughter.; Minnie, who died
in 1937.
He was born in 1861 in Howick
township and resided there all his life,
living the last few years with his son.
The funeral on July 24th was attend.-
ed by a host of relatives and friends
from near and far. Mr, E. Fenn and
Mr, J. Francis of Toronto, Mrs. Camp-
bell of Buffalo, and Mrs. Casemore of
Owen Sound, as well as friends from
Listowel, Wharton and Wingham were
in attendance.
