Many farms in this, district have
been experienaing a r'eal, shortage of
water, and, the recent rains have been
very welcome,
Mrs. Cecil Falconer and her brother,
Mr. Athol Pardon of Lucknow, motor-
ed to London to the Sick Children's
Hospital on Thursday last to bring
home the latter's little son, who has
been there for over a month. The little
fellow is not very well at present,
Mrs- Linton of Bay City, Michigan,
is visiting at the home of her brother,
Mr. 'John Mowbray and with other
Teeswater relatives,
Word was received here last week
by Mrs. Robert Mowbray that Donald
MacKay, son of Mr, and Mrs. Angus
MacKay of Jansi, India, had been very
ill in the hospital there, sallying with
mastoids. An infant son, born to Mr.
and Mrs. MacKay in. India, in June,
died at birth.
The summer meeting of the W.M.S.
of the Presbyterian Church was held
on Thursday last at the home of Mrs.
John S. Craig, with a good attendance.
The President, Mrs. Robert Mowbray,
was in charge of the meeting. Mrs,
W. J Coulter read the Scripture lesson
and Mrs. Jas. McInnis led in the Med-
itation period, Mrs. Robt. Ross sang
a solo, and Mrs. Mowbray led in pray-
er for the Missionaries and their work.
Mrs. Fisher sang a solo, Mrs. Craig
gave a reading on Birthdays. The
guest speaker, Mrs. Guthrie Reid of
Teeswater gave a splendid address on
the many fields where the walls must
be re-built for the Master, as they were
built in olden times, by the people of
the lands, and a standing vote of
thanks was tendered to her. Mrs.
Rhone -closed the meeting with prayer.
Lunch was served and a social time
enjoyed by all.
Miss Roberta .Mowbray returned
home from Woodstock last week.
Mr, and Mrs, Richard Teriff of Tor-
onto, and Mr. and Mrs. John Wechna
of 'New York, spent a few days last
week at the home of . Mr. and Mrs.
Mac Ross, Miss Olive Teriff returned
home on Sunday after nursing Mr. and
Mrs. Win. Robinson of- Lucknow, for
the past few weeks.
The young girls of the community
met last Thursday evening at the home
of Mrs. Jas. Wilson and presented
Miss Jean Welwood, a bride of this
week, with a miscellaneous kitchen
shower, JLn thanked them for their
kindness and all sang, For she's a jolly
good fellow. Lunch was served and a
good time enjoyed by all.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes and
family returned home from Camp Kin-
tail on Sunday,
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Parsons and
Marianne of Toronto, spent last week
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mac.
Ross.
Mrs. Gordon Elliott, Mrs. Kenneth
Zinn and Russell and Kenneth Pardon
were in London on Tuesday. The,
ladies bad appointments with an eye
specialist.
Mr. and Mrs. James. Morrison and
their niece, Miss Eleanor Taylor, of
Toronto, visited last week-end with
their father, Mr. J. B. Morrison anl
with Mrs. Morrison, who is making a
good. recovery in Wingham Hospital.
-The members of'the Women's Insti-
tute are holding the opening of the
Community Hall on Thursday, August
1st, with a splendid program and good
music for dancing. .
Mrs. Dunlop of Toronto spent the
past few weeks at the home of Mr. and
Mrs.Thosa Morrison and her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Buckton of To-
ronto also visited there last week. Mr,
and Mrs. W. Proctor of Goderich vis-
ited there on Tuesday last.
Rev. anl Mrs. E, R. McLean of To-
ronto and Miss Ellis of Listowel were
visitors on Sunday at the home of the
former's brother, Mr. J, F. McLean
and Mr. and Mrs. Earl McLean and
family of Listowel also visited there
on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Gib-
son and family of Cayuga are spending
a few days there and with other mem-
bers of the family at the Cress Cott-
age at Bruce Beach,

Farrier, and Ronald Ernest, son of Mr.

Farrier of Kincardine. Three of these
were little cousins, grandchildren of
Mr. and Mrs. W. R, Farrier of the vil-
lage. Mr. Carman Farrier sang a solo.

Ernest Beecroft and Ronald, and Reeve
and Mrs, J. D. Beecroft attended the
County Council picnic at Harbour
Park, Goderich, on Thursday last,
where Ronald was awarded a silver
cup, for being the youngest one at the
picnic.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gaunt and
Murray of St. Helens, spent Sunday
at the home of his niece, Mrs. Clifford
Pardon.
Mr. Kenneth Warren and Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Warren, (nee Lillian Ken-
nedy), and Mr. David Kennedy, who
motored last week from Victoria, B.

Mrs. Dad id Kennedy, who is the

nic was held on Sunday afternoon to
Goderich Harbour Park. They left on
Monday to visit with relatives at St.
