J. Jacques, was united in marriage to Leslie Bruce Harkness, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Leslie Hark- ness of Carrick township. The cere- mony was performed by the Rev. Ern- est Jacques of Caledotiia, uncle of the bride, assisted by the Rev. J. Caley of Gorrie. The bride given in marriage by her brother, Lloyd R., wore a floor length gown of white sheer with halo and shoulder length veil and carried a shower bouquet of narcissi, tulips and fern. Her sister, Mrs. Robt. J. Harkness, dressed in mauve crepe and carrying mauve and yellow tulips acted as matron of honour. Mr. Robert j, Yuill - Stokes On Saturday, June 1st.; the home of -Mr. and Mrs. James Stokes, Wrox- eter, was the setting for the marriage of their daughter, Alberta Jeanette, and Clarence Joseph Yuill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Yuill, of Brussels. Rev. L. C. Jorgenson of Bluevale Presbyterian Church officiated, with Mrs. Jorgenson playing the wedding music. The ceremony was performed before an arch of evergreen flowers and streamers, The bride wore a floor- length gown of white tafetta with full skirt and bertha collar edged with pleating. Her headdress was Queen Anne style trimmed with white flowers from which fell a long net veil. She carried Johanna Hill roses with white satin streamers. Her bridesmaid, Miss Myrtle Yuill of St. Catharines, sister of the groom wore white sheer with shirred waistline and pink trimming. Her headdress was- a shoulder length veil and her flowers were pink carna- tions. John Stokes, brOther of the bride was best man, Following the ceremony dinner was served to the immediate families. For travelling the bride wore a printed silk jersey, aqua coat and white hat with black accessories and corsage of roses. Attending the bride were Velma Rolston of De- &Olt, matron of honour, in blue net floor-length gown with coloured bou- quet of roses' and sweet peas, and Betty Steep of Clinton, bridesmaid, 'in Harkness, was his brother's best man. Mrs. R. A. Ashton of Gorrie, aunt of the bride, played the wedding music. After the ceremony a wedding din- ner was served by Misses Jean Hark- ness of Toronto, Elizabeth Jacques of Caledonia, Mrs: Oliver Jacques, Clif- ford and Mx's, Lloyd Jacques. The bride's cake, tapers and pink and white adorned the table. Friends number- ing thirty-five were present from To- ronto, Caledonia, Brussels, Listowel, Clifford, Gorrie, Wroxeter, Belmore, Carrick, and neighbours. The happy couple left amid showers of confetti for London, Caledonia, Nia- gara Falls and Toronto, The bride donned a navy tailored suit with hat and accessories to match. Martin, White- church, who is permanently confined to bed., WEDDINGS Blackmore - Elliott A pretty wedding ceremony took place at Knox Presbyterian Church, Bluevale, on Saturday, June 1st, at 4 o'clock, when Lois, Evelyn Ross, Reg. N., only .daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Elliott, Bluevale, be- came the bride of Mr. William N. Blackmore, B.A. ,Toronto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Blackmore of Beams- ville. Rev. Leland C. Jorgenson officiated. The church was tastefully decorated with standards of white lilacs and tul- ips, while the guest pews were marked with white narcissus, iris, 'and white ribbon. Mrs. Donald Robertson of Wingham, played the wedding music. Entering the church on the arm of her father, the bride was charming in a gown of ivory faille taffetta, made on princess lines with short puffed sleeves and full skirt gathered to a medriff. Her finger-tip veil was gath- ered to a halo, dotted with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of American beauty roses and gardenias. The maid of honour, Miss Mable MacDonald, Reg. N., chose powder blue faille tafetta, with sweet heart neckline and carried sweet peas and carnations. The junior bridesmaids, Miss Betty Messer, cousin of the bride, and Miss Jean Blackmore, sister of the bridegroom, wore petal pink taf- feta, and carried nosegays of snapdrag- on, roses and sweet peas. The grooms- man was Mr. Dalton Blackmore, brother of the groom. During the signing of the register, Miss Lavon. Rapp of Listowel, cousin of the groom, sang "0 Perfect Love." The ushers were, Mr. Harry Black- more, Beamsville, brother of the groom and Mr. Jack Oke of Wood- stock, cousin, of the groom. After the ceremony, a reception was held at "Elm Hill Farm", the home of , the bride's parents. The bride's mother received wearing an aqua French Sheer Facomme Frock with leghorn hat and corsage of pink roses while the groom's mother chose the same shade. in crepe with navy acces- sories and wore a corsage of yellow roses. After' the reception the guests enter- ed the dining room decorated in pink and white, and the white bell used at the marriage of the bride's mother, where supper was served; Mr. and Mrs. Blackmore left by mo- tor for Toronto, Georgian Bay, and other points. The bride wore a suit of aqua blue gaberdine with matching hat and wore the gift of the groom, a Russian squirrel neckpiece.•. After the honeymoon they will reside at 311 Walmer Road, Toronto.
