At a special meeting of 'the WO.A,
A,, held, in Wingham on Friday even-
ing, all groupings and conveners were
arranged in men's and ladies' softball
series. Over one hundred were in at-
tendance, with the association now op-
erating 109 teams with a total of 2,180

Upwards of 75 -enthusiastic sports-
men attended a special meeting of the
W.O.A.A. Thursday night to arrange
groupings and choose conveners in the
various baseball series held in Wing-
ham, M.L. "Tory" Gregg presided
over the, meeting.

HOBO KING, DEAD
Charles Pearce, self-styled king of
the Canadian hoboes, is dead. One' of
the Dominion's most interesting char-
acters, his death came in- 'Bracebridge
Hospital, after an illness of two weeks.
King Charlie was beim in Brixton,
England—just when he never would
say precisely although he remarked
three years ago, "I believe I'm 104
tt years old." By his own account, he
spent 78 years in Canada, 67. of them
as knight of the road. •
He was an inveterate collector of
medals, convention buttons and news-
papers clippings of his own strange
career.
