Dr, john J, Brown
The funeral service for Dr. John 7.
Brown, resident here for the past two
years, was held Monday at 2 p.m., at
the Meadow Chapel in Woodstock. In-
terment was made in Woodstock cem-
etery,
Prior to moving to Wingham,
Brown, who war in his '77th year, prac-
tised dentistry in Woodstock for 40
years. He was born at Caledonia, son
of ,Mr, and Mrs. Jos. Brown, pioneer
residents. He was a member of the
Wingham United Church, Masonic
Order and a charter member of the Y.
M,C.A. in Woodstock.
Surviving besides, his wife, are two
daughters and one son, Mrs. J. Harley
Crawford, Wingham; Mrs. Hugh An-
derson, Caledonia; Dr, Tracy Brown,
St. Thomas; a biother and sister, Jos-
eph, Caledonia, .and Mrs, Warner. R.
Newton, Bowmanville.
. Rev, R. N. Stewart
Rev. Robert N. Stewart, 47, minister
of Wesley United Church, Pembroke,
died in hospital on Sunday after a five-
month illness,
A native of Chatham, he was a grad-
uate of McGill Univ'ersity and Mont-
real Theological College. Ordained at
London in 1927, he held pastorates at
Glenwood, Staffa, Centralia and Tees-
water, all in Western Ontario 'before
accepting a call to Pembroke last sum-
mer.
His widow, and a.,;daughter, Lor-
raine, survive. Funeral services were
held at Pembroke on Tuesday with
burial at Chatham.

daughter, Shirley, left on Sunday for
their home in Hamilton, having spent
the week visiting with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Lincoln. Other vis-
tors at the same home were Mr. John
Cathers, Kathleen and Bobbie of Gor-
rie, also Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Her-
gert of Elora.
Misses Gail Pardon of Wingham,
rM. Bob Leaver .of Toronto, spent
last week with Mr. Chas. Leaver,
Mr. Wm. Barbour and. Miss Annie
Kennedy visited on Saturday last at
the home of Mr, Harry McClenaghan.
Mr. Barbour celebrates his ninety sec
on.d birthday this Wednesday, Can
gratulations.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gaunt and
children spent Sunday with Wingham
relatives. Pte. Harold Gaunt of Lon-
don, also spent the week-end in Wing-
ham.
