The Easter Thank Offering meeting
of the W.M.S. of the United Church
was held on Wednesday evening last,
with the President, Mrs. J. G. Gilles-
pie in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Jas.
Falconer read this Scripture lesson and
Mrs. Jack Gillespie and Mrs. G. E.
Farrier sang a duet; The W. M. S.,of
St, Helen's United Church were guests
for the occasion, Mrs. Andrew Gaunt
sang "The Christ of the Cross". Rev,
G. M. Newton closed the meeting with
prayer. Mr. Newton then showed
slides on the Crucifixion. These pic-
tures, drawn -and painted by world
known artists, were very beautiful.
RefteShments were served and all en-
joyed the social time.

side spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. Bert Eynon of the R.C.O.C.,
London, spent the week-end . at ,his
home here. Their son, Bruce of the
Belleville School for the Deaf, did
not come home, but was taken with the
others in his glass for a trip to Niagara
Falls this week.
The Easter Thank Offering meeting
of the W.M.S. of the Presbyterian
Church was held on Thursday last at
the home' of the President, Mrs. Rob-
ert Mowbray, who was in charge of
the meeting. Miss Annie Kennedy
read the Scripture lesson and Miss
Velma Scott led in prayer. The medi-
tation period was taken by Mrs. Al-
bert Walters. Mrs. Russell of Wing-
ham was the guest speaker for the .af-
ternoon, and gave a very interesting
talk on the many things We 'have to
be thankful for, especially at this Eas-
ter time. Mrs. Welwood closed' the
meeting with prayer for the missionary
workers. ,Lunch was served and the
social time enjoyed by all.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Underwood of
Toronto, spent last week-end at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas.
Illwrath, and Mrs. Hardwood of Tor-
onto, is visiting with her sister, Mrs,
Mclllwrath this week.
