Mr. and Mrs: Russel Rae are hdld-

ments in the near future and will leave
for Brantford to take up residence. Mr.
Rae having scoured a position in that

Mr. Millward of Toronto, has pur-
chased the residence of Mr. Alex,Case-
more at the bend of the river. Mrs.
Millward and two cildren arrived on
Friday. Mr. Millward is employed
with the C.P.R. Express Service.
Mr. and Mrs. H. • V. McKenney
spent the week-end in Toronto attend-
ing the wedding of their niece, Miss
Isabel Smeaten.
Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton visited her
sister Mrs. F. M. Forster in Toronto,

The Howiek Lions held their mon-
thly supper meeting in Fordwich on
Wednesday of last. week.. The W. A.
of Trinity Anglican Church tatered.
St. James Guild
Members of St. James Anglican
Guild held their April meeting on
Tuesday of last week, April 9th.,, at
the home of Mrs. j-rnes Wray. The
president, Mrs. McKenney presided
and the opening hymn was Blest be
the tie that binds. Rev. G. K. Nobes
lead in prayer. A generous donation
of quilt blocks was received from the
Red Cross and members are asked to
bring needles and thimbles to the next
meeting to sew these :blocks, A motion

Women's Assionary Society
The April meetting of the W.M.S.
of the United Church was held in the
church parlours on Friday afternoon,
with an attendance of twenty-five
members and visitors. The meeting
opened with quiet music with Miss K.
Hazelowod 'at the organ and invoca-
tion from the 25th psalm. Mrs. Mun-
roe presiding over the meeting which
was arranged by Mrs. H. Timm and
Mrs. D. S. MdNaughton. Co Spirit of
the°Living God was the opening hymn.
Mrs. Timm read the 'Easter Story.
Mrs. Thos, Ball led in prayer. There
is a green hill, was the' second hymn.
Mrs. Howes gave an address on "The
Risen Christ". She said it was women
who were% the last to leave Christ on
the Cross and the first to the Tomb
in the early morning, It was to wom-
en Christ first spoke, after he had
risen. The speaker said people in
those days doubted `the power of
Christ, just as they do to-day and the
Great love He had, for all people which
was stronger than death. In keeping
with the subject Mrs. Charles Mc-
Cutcheon sang"Alone".
Miss Helen Sawtell was honoured
with a Life Membership by members
of the W.M.S. in memory of her
mother, Mrs. W. A. Sawtell. Mrs.
Denny read the address, the presenta-
tion was made by the president, Mrs.
Munroe. The hymn 0 Love that will
not let me go" was sung. Miss K.
Hazelwood, secretary Of Stewardship,
gave a report on the contributions for
the first 3 months of 1946. The Roll
Call was answered by a verse contain-
ing the word "Cross". The hymn,
Come let us join our cheerful songs,
and the benediction brought an inter-
esting meeting to a close. s

The April meeting of tl:e W.M,S,
was held at Mrs. Gordon's with 19
ladies present and with Mrs, W. I,
Miller, the president in the chair, The
theme of the worship service which
was conducted by Mrs, J. Cameron
was. Builders together with God. The
roll call on "Easter" received a fine
response. The ,treasurer reported that
$25 had been forwarded to the Pres-
byterial treasurer for the first quarter.
Mrs, Lorne Woods and Mrs. Andrew
Gaunt wee appointed delegates to the
Presbyterial to be held in Winghant
on April 25th. An invitation to a lan-
tern lecture by Rev, M. G. Newton on
April 17th., was received from White-
church W.M.S. Mrs. T. J. Todd, the
Herald for India read of a farewell
party for Miss Louise Scott, who was
leaving for hospital work in India.
Mrs< Andrew Gaunt favoured with a
solo, "The Christ of the Cross", Mrs,.
W, I, Miller had charge of the topic

Future? Mrs, Newton extended an in-
vitation for the May meeting when the

the Goderich Hospital, following a
major operation on Saturday, Her
many friends hope for a speedy recov-

Aitcheson are spending a few days in
Goderich.
