Brooks - Wells
St. Penis AnglicAn Church, Wing-
ham was the scene of a lovely Spring
wedding on Thursday March 21st.,
when Dorothy May, only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wells was unit-
ed in marriage to John Thomas
Brooks, eldest .son of Mrs. Clarence
Brooks and the late Clarence Brooks
of Lower Windham.
Rev. J.' James, rector of the church,
was the officiating clergyman and Mr.
Roy Mundy played the bridal music:
Yellow daffodils and White bells were
used in the sanctuary. While the sign-
ing of the register, Miss Eva Lediett,
Wingham, sang I Love You Truly.
The bride, given in marriage by her
father, looked charming in Battenberg
lace floor-length dress with a sweet-
heart neckline. Her train fell from a
Queen Anne headdress and was car-
ried by Mary Helen MacDonell and
Charlie McKay, both cousins of the
bride. The bride carried a colonial
bouquet of red roses, showered with
white sweet pea florets. The -bride's
only jewellery was a necklace, a gift
of the groom.
Her only attendant, Miss' Beatrice
MacDonald, cousin of the bride was
lovely in pink rayon chiffon. 'She car-
ried a bouquet of pink carnations and
maiden hair fern. The flower-girl
wore blue net floor length dress with
matching head-dress. The bride's
brother, Mr. Bill Wells, was the
groom's only attendant.
The ushers were Mr. Lloyd Ratz of
Waterloo and the bride's uncles, Mes-
srs. Roy, George and John McKay.
The bride's mother received the
guests wearing mauve two-piece crepe
ensemble with silver sequins and mat-
ching accessories. Her corsage was
pink carnations. , Supper was served
to forty guests at Yemen's Grill.
A reception was held at the Royal
T., Wingham. The bride wearing a
aqua blue dress.
The young couple left short
honeymoon for Niagara Falls and
ponits east, the bride wearing a blue
shag coat with black accessories.
The young couple will reside in
Lower Wingham.
Out of town guests were from Wat-
erloo, Kitchener, London and Listow-
el.

March 13th., for the wedding of Mar-
garet Louise, elder daughter of Mrs.

Francis Mackenzie, London. Rev,
Forman officiated and Mr. Brick was
at the organ.
The bride wore an ivory corded
silk gown made in princess lines, The
gathered torso skirt forming a short
train, her headdress was a circlet of
white Satin, entwined with pearls from
which -4 train veil fell. A bouquet of
white gardenias with white sweet peas
on knotted streamers completed her
coStniiie. She was attended by her
sister; Alma, who 'wove a pale pink
taffetta frock and carried a noSegay of

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Michel of
Montreal, were guests last week of his
brother, Mr. and Mrs. ,Cloyne Michel.

Presentation To Red Cross Leader .
The 6th and 9th line Red Cross
group met at the 'home of Mrs. R. W.
N. 'Wade on Friday afternoon, when
one quilt was quilted and the 6 com-
pleted layettes were on display. Dur-
ing the social half hour, the members
honoured their leader, ;Mrs. Percy
Ashton, through whose efforts the
group have turned in such an amount
of work to the local rooms, with a
gift suitable for the occasion. Mrs.
Ashton, taken by surprise, thanked the
group for their remembrance and ex-
pressed her hope that while at the pre-
sent time they would discontinue as
an active Red Cross Group, it would
be able to still have a few get to-
gethers.

theme was in keeping with the Lenten
season, Consecration. basing her

stated the age in which we live de-
mands we consecrate our all to God.

The meeting closed with prayers fol-
lowed by a bountiful lunch served -by
the hostesses.
Lieut. John Neilson left on Monday
for London where he will this week
receive his discharge from the army.
On Sunday night next the Y.P.U.
will hold their regular meeting at 8
p.m. in the United Church, when Mr.
Henry Finlay wills show his pictures.
These are pictures Mr. Finlay has
taken himself while in England and no
doubt will prove , very interesting.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
