Mr. and Mrs. J. H. N. Norton left
on Monday for Ottawa, owing to the
illness of their daughter and son-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. F. Sawyer.

Mr. Nat Thompson, who has been
in the canning factory at Forest, for
the past few weeks is visiting with
friends here this week.
Mr. and Mrs. David Currie and Miss
Lear, moved from the farm on the
Boundary last Wednesday to the red
brick cottage at the North end of Ed-
ward St., Wingham,
Mrs. Bert Eynon received word last
week that her brother, Mr. Bruce Mc-
Farlane of Englehart, was very ill with
pneumonia. He returned this fall from
overseas, after being wounded twice.
The ladies of the Red Cross group
in the village conducted a Euchre in
the Hall on Friday 'evening with fif-
teen tables playing. Mrs. John Gaunt
and Mr. George Fisher won for• high
points and Eileen Stewart and Gordon
Welwood for low points. Little Miss
Miss Mathers drew the ticket on a
cake which had been donated and Mr.
Pharis Mathers held the lucky ticket,
Lunch was served and Tiffin Bros.
supplied the music for dancing.
Mr. A. E. Purdon and Mrs. Hector
Purdon drove to Toronto last Wed-
nesday to meet the latter's husband
when he arrived from overseas, and
motored home on Friday, accompanied
by Mr, Athol Purdon who spent the
week-end here.
Ten hunters from the village were
fortunate in getting seven deer last
week, Mr, Russel Farrier shot his
deer on Monday morning and hung it
up back in the Gillespie bush, but
when he went to get it at night some
one had been there before him and so
far lie has been unable to trace it. Not
often this is done by real sports.
Mn and Mrs. Relison Falconer, Miss
Bertha MacKay and Miss Roberta
Mowbray of Toronto, spent the week-
end at their respective homes in this
community.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Plunkett of
Toronto, who visited last week at the
home of his sister, Mrs. Lorne John-
ston, returned home on Sunday, and
Mr. Lawrence Clarke and..his daugh-
ters, who had been visiting there last
week returned home to Niagara on Sat-
urday.

again received by acclamation at the

District President Spoke To Institute
The "Publicity" meeting of the Bel-
grave Branch of the Women's Institute
with Mrs. Carl Procter as Convener,
was held at the home of Mrs. Stewart
Procter on Tuesday afternoon. The
district president, Mrs. Lorne Ivers,
Dungannon, was the guest speaker and
had as her subject "Economy" and
spoke of true economy in food, clothes,
household furnishings and health. t.
'The president, Mrs. Carl. Anderson,'
conducted the meeting. The roll call
was Name an Official and the office hp
Holds in Huron. A quiz was conduct-
ed by Mrs. Carl Procter. Mrs. Jack
Wickstead sang a solo arid community

program was given, Mrs. James Fal-

to come to the front and Mr. Falconer
read an address from the Elders, the
Church Board, the Members of the
Choir and Sunday School and present-
ed them with a purse of money, Mr.
McClenaghan replied thanking the
