The funeral of the late Mrs. J. T.
McCaughey was held from St. Mich-
ael's R. C. Church on Tuesday morn-
ing with interment. in the R. C. Ceme-
tery, Morris Township. The deceased
had been ailing for some time and
passed away in Clinton Hospital on
Saturday. She is survived by her hus-
band.
The condition of Mrs. S. W. Sib-
thOrpe, who underwent a critical oper-
ation in Clinton Hospital a week ago,
shows slight improvement.

SCHEMES SUNDAY
Rifle Practice Held At London Bridge
The 99th. (R) Battery, R. C. A., held
its final scheme of the season at the
rifle ranges at London bridge on Sun-
day. The battery was under the com-
mand Capt. J. C. McNabb, who was
recently appointed officer commanding
the battery.
The exercises which were held dur-
ing the morning and afternoon took the
form of practice at the ranges with
rifles and bren guns.
BLYTH
The community was shocked early
Monday evening at the sudden passing
of Mrs, Douglas Morrison. She had
been raking leaves on the lawn at her
home when she was seized with a heart
ailment, to which she had ;been subject,
and passed away instantly. The fun-
eral will take place from her late resi-
dence on Thursday afternoon.

At the Thankoffering meeting of the
W.. M. S. of the United Church on
Monday night, the guest speakers were
Dr. E. C. and Mrs. Wilford who are
home on furlough from. West China, A
large gathering greeted the speakers
and listened with much interest as they
told of their work and conditions in the
foreign land. Mrs, A, W. Sinclair pre-
sided, Mrs, Harold Phillips contributed
a lovely solo accompanied by Mrs. KU-
patrick.
The Lions Club are holding a Mas7
querade Bali on Wednesday night.

Wren Frances Robinson who spent
the last ten months at Glasgow, Scot-
land, arrived in Toronto on Thursday.
She reported in Otawa on Sunday for
duty.
Mrs. Jas. Purdon of West Wawa-
nosh is again a patient in Wingham
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Scott Patterson of De-
troit, spent the week-end with his
father, Mr. F. McK, Paterson.

Mrs. McTavish of Wroxeter, spent
the week-end with her sister, Mrs. D.
L. Weir and Mr. Weir.
Mr. Edgar Dane returned home last
Saturday after spending a few months
in the west.
The anniversary services were well
attended last Sunday and the weather
was all that could be expected. The
church was filled ' for both' services.
Rev. Mr. Hazelwood of Walton gave
two fine addresses which were appre-
ciated by every one present. The Wro-
xeter United Church choir had full
charge of the evening service and their
singing and music were both well ren-

tiered and appreciated by all those in
attendance.
Mr. Frank Green and son, Art, of

Miss Janet Sangster from near Lake-
let, is spending a few days with her
