ceives his discharge this week in Tor-
onto, after three years overseas. Mr.

Mr,, Robert Ross, Kenneth and Rus-
sel, motored to London last Monday
to meet LiCorp. Donald Ross, who re-
turned home after spending over a
year overseas. Donald spent five
weeks in a hospital in Holland, when
he was wounded. He will receive his
discharge in London next month. Mr.
George Ross of Owen Sound, visited
at his home here for a few days last
week.
The Federation of Agriculture will
present a number of moving picture
films in the Institute Hall here on Fri-
day evening at 8.30. At the same
meeting a number of the community
bays who 'have returned from overseas
recently, will receive their official wel-
come home. An invitation is extended
to all the folks in the community to be
present and enjoy both parts of the
meeting.

Farmer's Night At Fordwich Thurs-
day
The Howick Lions Club are spons-
oring a Farmer's night in the Ford-
wich Church Hall, Thursday night at
8.30 o'clock, Mr. Bain Stewart, Hur-

which will be followed by a question

Suffered Fractured Thigh
Mr. J, Herb Neil suffered a broken
upper thigh as well as lacerated face,
when struck by a car driven by Mr.
John Dfekert, of Lakelet, early Satur-
day afternoon.. Mr. Neil was taken to
Wingham hospital, Police Officer

Mr. and Mrs. William Earngey of
Fergus and son, Dean, R.C.N„ were
week-end guests of their aunt, Miss
Nate Earngey.
Gorrie Presbyterian anniversary will
be held next Sunday, October 14th. at
11 a,rn. and 7.30 p.m., when the Rev.
Rhodes of Ashfield, will be the guest
'speaker. The Elgar Ouartette, Xitch-
ener, will assist the choir.

The first meeting of the Gorrie
young People's Union was held at the
church on Friday,' October 5th. Jean
King, Pauline Heinmiller„Maxine
Farrish and Tom Newton, convenors
for Christain Fellowship were in
charge of the meeting. Rev. Howse
gave a very interesting talk cn Wor-
ship. There were 19 members present.

C.G.I.T. Meeting
• The Gorrie C. G. I. T. met. at the
home of Greta Hyndman on Friday
night. • Helen Irwin, Dorothy Downey
and Dorothy Watson were in charge of
the meeting. Mrs, Lawrence gave a
very interesting talk on Travel and
her life in Ireland. 14 members were
present. Nekt meeting will be held at
Pauline Heinmiller's on Friday, Octo-
ber 19th.
Evening Auxiliary Thankoffering
The Evening Auxiliary of the Unit-
ed Church met at the home of 'Mrs I.
Toner with 15 members and several
visitors present Group 3 was in charge
of the program. The theme of the
meeting was "The Church In Angola"
with Mrs. A. Taylor leading and with
other members taking part. The pres-
ident conducted the business session.
The Autumn Thankoffering was re-
ceived. It was decided to buy "The
Bookshelf", payment to be made by a
15c tea at the next meeting.
Mrs, A. Taylor was appointed dele-
gate to attend the sectional meeting to
be held at Belgrave, Wednesday, Oct-
ober 10th. An invitation from the W.
M. S., to attend their next meeting at
the home of Mrs. R. Ashton was ac-
cepted,
The next meeting will be held on
November 12th with group 1 in charge.
The meeting closed with the benedic-
tion.
