Mrs. Moffatt, Mary and Bob have returned home after spending the past few weeks with her son at Raymor. W; Povnii-at 8trat.: Hyndman - Thompson A lovely early autumn wedding took place at high noon, Saturday, Septem- ber 1st, when Mary Cassells Thomp- son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. "C. Thompson, Harriston, Ontario, was united in marriage to Mr. Allan Win- fred Hyndman, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Hyndman, Gorrie, Ont. The wedding service performed by Rev. Mr. Thomas of Harriston, took place at the home of the bride's par- ents, which was very tastefully decor- ated and flanked with autumn gladi- oli. The bride, very charming in a floor-length gown of embossed marqu- isite, lace yeil of period design 'carried a shower Of gladioli and Better Time roses, She was , attended by. Miss Verna Weber, lovely in baby blue ern- broidered net, carrying horseshoe of sunset snap dragons with blue flower headdress. Mr. Wesley Galloway of Gorrie, very ably assisted the groom, while Miss Greta Hyndman, sister of the groom, in legendary green, cor- sage of sweet peas, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Hyndman, in delight blue with corsage of sweet peas, sang "I love you truly", while the register was being signed. After the congratulations were re- eeived the bridal pay and many guests were entertained at the Royal Inn, Harriston, where a wedding din- ner was served. A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents, where Mrs, Thompson wearing queen's blue with corsage of roses, and Mrs, Hyndman wearing a blue printed dress and corsave of sweet peas received. A pleasant feature was the attendance Of the groom's two grandfathers, both being over SO years of age. The bride and groom left by motor for Muskoka and other points. The bride travelled in navy tailored suit and coat of new blue camel hair and matching accessories, On their return the young couple will reside in Gorrie, p•••••••••••,,,,e. David - Howes A pretty summer wedding was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents in Howick Township, when Catherine Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Howes, was united in marriage to Frank David, son of Mr, and Mrs. Ambrose David of Howick, The Rev. I. D, lvIcIvor and Mr. C. McCarroll officiated and Mrs. Mc- Carroll played the wedding music, The bride, given in marriage by her father, looked charming in a graceful gown of white sheer . with finger-tip veil held by a halo, and carrying a bouquet of sweetheart roses and fern. Miss Edith Elizabeth Howes, twin sister of, the bride, was bridesmaid, wearing pale pink sheer with match- ing veil, and carrying a nosegay of red roses. The groom was attended by his brother, William David. The groom's gift to the bride was a gold pendant, to the bridesmaid, a compact and to the best man, a signet ring. During the signing of the register, Mrs. McCarroll sang "0 Perfect( Love". A reception was held at the home where the bride's mother received in a dress of sky blue sheer with white accessories and corsage of sweet peas. The groom's mother chose navy sheer and wore a corsage of red roses. Im- mediately following the reception the bride received a cable of congratula- tions from her biother, Sgt. David Bowes, R.C.A.F., his wife and son from Scotland, conveying their best wishes. A wedding supper was served by friends of the bride to some thirty- five guests. The china used by the bride and groom belonged to the bride's great grandmother. Later the young couple left on a honeymoon to Northern Ontario, the bride wearing a dress and matching 1 1 hat of powder blue.-swith matching ac- cessories. After the honeymoon the bride who is attached to the C.W.A.C. at Toronto, will return to her station. Guests from a distance included, Pte, Virginia Cochrane, C.W.A.A.C., Torontb; Mrs. R. J. BLYTH A large number of our citizens at- tended the Labor Day Lions Frolic at Wingham. Mr. Bert Marsh, secretary of the Blyth Cooperative creamery, is moving his family into the west end of the Mason apartment. Mr. Marsh has just recently disposed of his farm in Colborne township. Mr. Herb Dexter who has been an employee on the C.P.R., has been ap- pointed section foreman, taking the position formerly held by the late Mr. Charles Bell. BELGRAVE Knox United Church Woman's Missionary Society held a meeting of special interest Wednesday afternoon in the schoolroom of the church, when the senior girls' Excelsior class of the Sunday School conducted the worship and study period, Miss Barbara Michie was in the chair. Following prayer by Misses Audrey McGuire and Mary Procter, a mission- ary quiz was conducted by Miss Shirley Chanmey, A piano solo was contributed by Mrs. George Johnston. The president, Mrs. James Michie, took charge for the business session, which included routine reports and mapping out of plans for the sectional meeting to be held in Belgrave this month. Quilt blocks were brotight in and a quilting arranged for next week at the church when members of the Baby Band and their mothers are to be honored guests. The meeting closed with singing and prayer, after which the Woman's As- sociation met, with the president, Mrs, Ribert Coultes, in charge. Mrs, Coul- tes read the scripture. "Mrs, Carl.
