Johnson reported that Edward Street
and Victoria Street from Shuter to
Carling Terrace would require gravel-
ling. He also said that calcium chlor-
ide would be applied shortly 'and that
some trees would be removed.
A complaint regarding the condition
of the dump was discussed, Coun,
Spry reported that be understood there
was a pig being kept within the town
limits, Mayor Davidson gave an ex-
planation of this. The clerk was in-
structed to write the CNR. with re-
swt to water lying in a ditch on their
property and creating an offensive
odor.
On motion of Coun, Wilkinson and
Mayor D.alvdson the clerk was instruc-
ted to write Mr. W. H. French re-
guesting him to trim the hedge on his
property to a lower level clue to the
dangerous obstruction of the view of
motorists.
For the Property Committee Coun.
Wilkinson presented a request for use
of the Town Hall for religious services
from Sept. 23rd. to Oct. 3rd. He also
reported one tender for painting the
Town Hall, It was from Harold Fin-
lay and for'the sum of $1400.00. On
Motion of Coun. Lloyd and ,Coun,
Johnson the use of the hall for the
above period for religious services was
granted, The fee to be .$50.00, On
motion of Court, Spry and Coun, Ken-
flay the tender for painting the Town
Hall was filed,
Coun. Lloyd reported for the Cerrie,-
tery, Committee, He said the work was
gOipg on as usual and that 400 yards
of earth would be required for level-
ling this year.
Conn, Kennedy for the Fire Com-
mittee reported that Mr, Jack Baker
had resigned as fireman and that Mr,
Morris Swanson had been appointed
as from July,„?.st, He said that the
W hose ' been .checked and that about,
150 feet was required. On motion of
Conn. Kennedy and Lloyd it was de-
cided to purchase 150 feet of Dunlop
Redfix Fire Hose,
Coun. Spry reported for the Welfare
Committee that $69.66 had been spent
on relief in June.
Mayor Davidson reported for the
Band Committee and said the band
was presenting concerts each Sunday
evening. He Congratulated Coon,
Johnson on moving the band stand
successfully,
The matter of securing street signs
was again before council. On motion
of Mayor Davidson and Coun. John-
son this matter was left with Coun.

An offer of $50.00 was received from

Mrs. W. W. Strong, president of
the Woman's Missionary Society, pre-
sided at the regular meeting held at
the home of Mrs. H. E. Ashton on
Thursday, July 5th, when a program
with the theme, "The Crusade for
Christ and His Kingdom" was pre-
sent,
After the call to worship and sing-
ing of the hymn, "0 for a thousand
tongues to sing", Mrs. L. Rattan led
in prayer. The leader was assisted by
Mrs, H. Ashton, Mrs. L, Ru.ttan, Miss
Edgar, Mrs. R. Ashton, Miss Janice
Strong and Mrs.Whitley whose papers
were interspersed with the hymns,
"Break Thou the Bread of Life" "Dear
Lord to Me" "Fill Thou My Life" and
"Lord of Light whose Name Out-
shineth".
This is a great task to which we are
called. We need leadership; we need
personal devotion and consecration.
Our responsibility is to all men every-
where, not only to our own neighbours.
After Singing hymn "Lord in the
strength of Grace" the Lord's Prayer
was repeated in unison,
, The roll call was responded to by
a thought on Consecration. The presi-
dent reported that articles in bale valu-
ed at $35,00 had been forwarded to the
Supply Secretary. The meeting closed
with the Mizpah Benediction.
Cuthers Re-union
The Cathers Re-union was held on
Saturday afternoon, June 30th, in Lis-
towel Park. Over sixty gathered for
dinner and a business meeting was
held immediately afterward with the
president, James Waddell in the chair.
It was decided to hold a re-union in
1946 in the same park.
The afternoon was spent in games
and races, two soft-ball games were
played, Supper was served and every-
One went home to look forward to an-
other gathering of this kind next year.
