day.

Hospital, on Sunday, May 20th, to
Mr. and Mrs, Charles °Walley, R.
R. No. 2, Teeswater, a son,
OBITUARY
Lancelot Johnson
,One of the pioneers of East Wawa-
nosh died on Sunday, May 13th, at
Rydal Bank, Algoma, in the person of
Lancelot Johnson. The deceased was
born in East Wawanosh in 1857 and
was a son of William Johnson and his
wife, Mary Nethery Johnson. Mr.
Johnson spent some time visiting rela-
tives in and around Belgrave in the
autumn of 1937 and will be remember-
ed as a remarkably able and interest-
ing gentleman to talk to, even though
then at the advanced age of eighty-one
years.
Dr. John Grieve
Dr. John Grieve, veterinary surgeon
at Seaforth for , 54 years years, died
Friday after an illness of 11 days. He
suffered from heart trouble,.
Born in McKillop township on Nov.
9, 1865, the departed man was married
on Jan. 19, 191k, to Miss Louise
Esther Ferguson, who survveis. Dur-
ing his residency in Seaforth Dr.
Grieve served his adopted community
faithfully in many ways and for 15
years he was a member of the council,
first as a councilor and later as reeve.
He was also devout member of First
Presbyterian Church.
Besides his wife there are surviving
one son, David, Seaforth; one daugh-
ter, Ethel, Toronto; one brother,
Thomas, Egmondville; two sisters,
Mrs. R. Hogg of McKillop and Mrs.
J. Homuth of Wingham and three
grandchildren. A son, Pearson, pre-
deceased him in May, 1944.
The funeral service was held in
First Presbyterian Church, Seafort11,
on Monday afternoon. Burial took
place in Maitlandbank Cemetery, Sea-
forth.
'Mrs. Robert 5. Tyndall
Following a stroke Mrs. Robert J.
Tyndall passed on Sunday, May 20th,
at the home of her son, George Mof-
fatt, Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Tyndall
had spent the winter with her son and
was preparing to return to 'her home
here for the summer when she suffer-
ed the stroke She was in her 84th
year, Born in Vaughan Township,
York County, she came as a young
girl with her parents to Morris town-
ship. Her maiden name was Fanny
Hunter. Her first husband, George
Moffatt was killed when he was hit
by a train on the C,P.R, bridge about
fifty years ago. Two years later she
was married to Mr. Tyndall and he
predeceased her six years ago. Mrs.
Tyndall was a member of Wingham
United Church and while her health ,
Permitted she was very active in the
work of the Women's Missionary So-
ciety and the Woman's Association.
She was a great temperance worker
and was a past president of both local
and County branch of the W.C.T.U.
Surviving is her son George Mof-
fatt of Detroit and his three children,
also one sister, Mrs. Jerry Caeemorc,
of Lower Wingham.
The funeral service is being held in
Wingham United Church at 2 p.m, this
afternoon (Wednesday) and will be
condticted by Rev. W. A. 13eeeroft,
Burial will take plate in Winghtutt
Cemetery,
