ter Casemore motored to Forest on
Sunday to visit with Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Casemore, and their mother, Mrs,
Jerry Casemore, who had been visiting
there returned home With them.
Mr. and Mrs, John Falconer spent
a few days last week with .1r, and
Mrs, John Casliek of Culross and with
other old acquaintances there,
Mrs, Jack MacIntyre and sons, and
Mrs. Rhys, Pollock and Richard left
on Sunday to enjoy two weeks vaca-
tion at a cottage at Point Clark, An-
gus Falconer is spending a few days
this week with them there.
Mr. and Mrs. Ira McLean and fam-
ily of, St. Thomas spent a few days
last week with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. ,)",. P. McLean and Shirley and
Donald Gibson of Niagara Falls have
also been visiting there, Mr. and
Mrs.. S. H. Cross and family also spent
Sunday there, with Mrs. Cross and
children staying to spend a few days
with her parents.
Many friends in this community will
extend best wishes to Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Beecroft, whose marriage was
solemnized at Brucefield United
Church on Wednesday, August 4th.
They arrived home from' their honey-
moon on Sunday evening.

United Church, Toronto, on Saturday,
August 7th., ,when Erma Bernice
Finch, formerly of Wingham, younger
daughter of Mrs. Mary E. Finch of
Toronto and the late Hugh Finch of
St. Marys, was united in marriage to
Wallace Peter Kirkwood of Forest,
son of the late Mr. ,and Mrs. James
Kirkwood of Chesley. Rev.. Robert J.
Irwin officiated at the wedding cere-
mony.
The bride, a graduate of the Uni-
versity of Western Ontario, was given
in marriage by her brother, William J.
Finch of Stratford. She wore a street
length frock of romance blue crepe
with matching halo hat and white ac-
cessories, and her corsage was of but-
terfly roses and bouvardia. The
bride's attendant, Miss Gladys Gerred,
was 'gowned in cameo rose silk jersey,
with ,navy accessories, and she wore
a shoulder bouquet of pink Delight
roses and pink gladioli. Leslie J.
Hetherington attended Mr, Kirkwood
as groomsman,
After the ceremony a reception was
held at the bride's home, where Mrs.
Finch received her guests in a black
and white ensemble with a corsage
of white gladoili.
For travelling the bride chose a suit
of navy crepe with matching accessor-
ies. After a motor trip north, Mr. and
Mrs. Kirkwood will live in Forest,
where the groom is principal of the
Forest High School.
Roberts - Kenmuir
The marriage of Florence Mary
Kenmuir, elder daughter of Mrs. Ken-
muir and the late F. W. Kenmuir •of
Alert Bay, B. C., to the Rev, Jaelc An-
thony Roberts, elder son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. A. Roberts of Wingham, Ont.,
took place on Aug. 4th in St. Luke's
Church, Cedar Hill, Victoria, B. C.
The bride, given in marriage by her
uncle, Mr. R. J. Kenmuir of Vancouv-
er, was attended by her sister, Doreen
Hope Kenmuir and Rev. Warren N.
Turner Was the groomsman. The Rt.
Rev. H. ,E. Sexton, Lord Bishop of
British Columbia, officiated at the cer-
emony, and Rev. Frederic Pike cele-
brated the nuptial mass.
After a, weddinetrip to Toronto and
Wihgliarn, the couple will reside at the
Rectory, Alert Bay, B. C.

Given in marriage by her brother,
Douglas, the bride wore a floor length
dress, of white silk net over taffeta;
and finger tip veil, She carried a Cas-
cade bouquet of Sweetheart roses and
bouvardia and wore a locket_whicli.
was worn by her grandmother at her
mariage and a bracelet, the gift of the
groom. Mary Catherine Rae, neice of
th e bride acted as flower girl wearing
a floor length dress of blue organdie
with touches of pink. She carried a
nosegay of pink sweet peas. '•Mrs. W.
W. Gurney played the wedding music.
Following the ceremony a luncheon
was served after which the bride and
groom left on a motor trip, the bride
wearing a wool suit Of Elizabeth blue
trimmed with fur, matching hat of blue
velvet and flowers, Her accessories
were grey. Mrs. Scott will continue
to reside in Wingham and the groom
will return to his unit at London.
Ellacott - Cruickshank
A quiet but pretty wedding was sol-
emnized at the United Church par-
sonage, Wingham, Saturday morning,
August the seventh, when the Rev. W.
A. Beecroft, united in marriage, Jean
Alberta, Reg. Nurse, only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cruickshank of
Wingham, to Lloyd Beverley Ellacott,
R. C. A., youngest son of Mrs. Ella-
cott, of Wingham, and the late Win.
Ellacott.
The bride wore a street-length two-
piece suit of chocolate brown crepe
with moss green accessories and her
corsage bouquet was of yellow Queen
Elizabeth roses. The bride and groom
were unattended.
Following the ceremony the couple
left for Toronto and points south.
After the honeymoon the groom will
proceed to his camp at Debert, -N. S.,
and the bride will return to her duties
on the staff of the Wingham General
Hospital.

On Saturday, August 7th., the High-
land. Golf Club, London, Ontario., was
the setting of an attractive summer
wedding at which Laura Muriel Lane,
Toronto, daughter of Mr. and Mr*
George Lane, Wroxeter, became the
bride of L. A. C:Lloyd Chester Stew-•
art, R. C. A. F., son of Dr, and Mrs.
R. L. Stewart, Wingliarn, Amid white
gladioli set in tall standards with white
tapers and ferns as a background,
Hon. „Capt.' George Wylie, Chatham,
cousin of the bride, performed the
ceremony. . The wedding music was
played by Mrs. H. Skinner and during
the signing of the register Mr. Jack
Ryles played "Because" as a claiiionet
solo and Mr. Stephen Byles, uncle of
the groom, sang.
Given in marriage by her father, the
bride looked lovely in a gown of blush
ivory satin with tight basque bodice
trimmed with touches of pleating, yolk
of point d'espirit and full bouffant
skirt. A heart shaped halo held her
finger tip veil which had been her
mother's on her wedding day. She
carried a shower bouquet of Better-

Miss Edna Johann, was bridesmaid,
wearing a floor-length dress of tur-
quoise faille tafetta cut on lines similar
to that of the bride with a shoulder-
length veil. She carried Johanna Hill

ful with masses of summer flowers,
the marriage of Margaret Strickland,
elder daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Robert
P, Watson to Mr. Gilbert Beecroft,
son of Mr, John Beecroft and the late
Mrs, Beecroft of Beigrave, was sol-
emnized on .Wednesday, August 4th.,
at 8 p. in, Rev. G. F. N, Aitkinson of-
ficiated. Mr, Donald Ross played the
wedding music, while Miss Eva
Stackhouse was the violin soloist be-
fore the ceremony and during 'the
signing of the register.
Given in marriage by her father, the
bride wore a goWn of ivory satin with
an overskirt of lace from her grand-
mother's wedding gown. Her finger-
tip veil of net was held by a wreath of
orange blossoms and she carried 'a
cascade bouquet of red roses and
bouvardia,
The bridesmaids, Miss Janet Wat-
son, sister of the bride, and Miss Bea-
trice Beecroft, sister of the groom,
were gowned alike in blue chenille=
embroidered organza with matching
shoulder veils and carried colonial bou-
quets of Madame Butterfly roses.
Mr. Melville Beecroft acted as the
groomsman for his brother, The ush-
ers were Mr, James McGee, Wingham,
and Mr. Cameron Henry, Brucefield.
' After the ceremony a reception was
held at the home of the bride's par-
nts. For travlling the bride wore a
smart turquoise suit with navy acces-
sories. On their return. from Mus-
koka they will reside on the groom's
farm near Belgrave.

At ten o'clock Saturday morning,
August '7th., at Mitchell, Ontario, Rev,

Kathleen Florence Nicklin, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Nicklin, of Blen-
heim, and Mr. Ivan Allister Elliott,
son of Mr.. and Mrs. John 5. Elliott,
of Gorrie. The bride was becoming-
ly attired in a two piece ensemble of
turf-tan and beige crepe with a cor-
sage of deep pink butterfly roses.
Miss Mary' Nicklin was bridesmaid.
She wore a two piece ensemble of teal
blue crepe with a corsage of pale pink
butterfly roses. Mr. Murray Elliott,
R. C. A. F., Oshawa, was best man.

OBITUARY
Mrs. J. T. McGee
Mrs. Albert Green of town, received
word on Thursday that her sister, Mrs,
J. T. McGee of Bayfield had passed
away on that day. Mrs. Green attend-
ed the:funeral which was held on Sun-
day to Bayfield cemetery.
Mrs. McGee's maiden name was
Annie Blanshard and she was born at
Caledonia in 1863 coming to Wingham
in 1877 and lived on the old Brant
farm on the edge of Wingham. For time
past 54 years she has lived at Bayfield.
She was the daughter of the late Wil-
liam and Mary Blanshard and she is
survived by a daughter and two sons.
Mrs. George Paulin
The funeral service 'for the late Mrs,
George Paulin, Wroxeter, was held in
St. James fk riglican church, Wroxeter,
on Wednesday afternoon, August 4th.
The service was contlucteti by the Rev.
R. S. Jones of Durham, a former rec-
tor at WroXeter. Burial took plac'e in
Wroxeter cemetery. The pallbearers
Were her nephews, Harvey McMichael,
Nelson Higgins, Archie McTavish,
Joseph Montgomery, Robert Higgins,
Morley McMichael. The flower hear-
ers were, Win, Xing, Archie Mont-
gomery, Lloyd Montgomery, Edgar

Mrs. Paulin passed on on, Monday
last week at the home. of her' nephew,
John McTavish, dederich, She had
been ill for about three weeks, In her
81.1.$,Oar, she was born near nehtibre
on April 10th., 3.8'77, anti has spent her
entire life in the district. The former
Elsie .iMeMiehael, of Wroxeter, she
was married there in May, 1907, her
husband predeceasing her seven years
ago. A member of St. James Anglican
church, Wroxeter, She took an inter-
est in the work of the church espec-
ially the Ladies Guild.
She leaves to mourn her passing,
three daughters and three Mrs.

spending this week with Mrs. A. Fox.
L. A. W. Doris MacClenaghan ar-
rived home from Rivers, Man„ on
Wednesday last, and Sergt. Melvin
MacClenaghan of Stratford and Miss
Norma Keller of Kitchener spent the
week-end at the home of their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ben MacClenaghan,
and Mr. and Mrs, Harry Moss, who
had been visiting there returned on
Friday to their home in Glencoe.
Mr. John Purdon started the thresh-
ing season in this. district last week, Mr,
Chas. Robinson has sold his threshing
outfit. as also has Gordon Godkin.
'Mr. Joe. Cumberland and his daugh-
ter, Miss Agnes of Manitou, Man., and
Miss Viola Thompson of Brantford,
spent the week-end at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Robinson and visited
with relatives in that community,.
Mrs. A. Kirk returned home from
Birmingham, Mich., on Thursday last,
Trooper Bob Ross and Trooper
Donald Ross, of Camp Borden, spent
the week-end at their respective homes

home 'from Owen. Sound for the past
week returned to his position on Sun-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Shaw and her
nephew, Mr. Clarke MadGregor of
Toronto, are .visiting this week with
her mother, Mrs. Jas. MacGregor and
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan
MacGregor, of Teeswater. Mr. and
Mrs, MacGregor received a cable from
their son, Bmdr. Ross A, MacGregor,
that he had arrived safely laSt week at
a port in Scotland, and he had remark-
ed how beautiful Scotland was at this
season. •

Mrs. Orton Grain of Wingham,
spent last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Lance Grain, Orton is taking liis bas-
ic training at London. and Mrs, Grain
will teach in the school on the 6th of
E. Wawanosh in the coming school.

the past few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Duncan MacGiegor
of Teeswater, their daughter, Mrs. Joe

day with Mr. and Mrs. Mac, Ross.
The service in the Presbyterian
church here was withdrawn on Sunday
and the young people of the church
will have charge of the services for
the next three Sundays, during Rev.
A, H. Wilson's holidays.
