Seddon Mehan
A pretty wedding was solemnized at
the Rosedale Baptist Mission, Wel-
land, when Phyllis Freda,' daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Mehan,
McAlpine avenue south, Welland, be-
came the bride of William Seddon, son
of Mr, and Mrs. Frank Seddon, of
Wingham, Rev. E. J, Whan, pastor
of Fonthill Baptist Church, officiated,
Given in marriage by her father, the
bride was lovely in her nuptial gown
of white taffeta silks fashioned on
princess lines. Her long veil of white
silk net fell in graceful folds from a
sweetheart headdress fringed with
orange blossoms. She carried an arm
bouquet of red roses and white car-
nations, The bride's mother was her
matron of honor. She chose a pretty
dress of pale pink crepe and .a halo
headdress in matching shade and car-
ried a bouquet of yellow roses, Miss
Suzzone May Kerr of Welland, brides-
maid, was gowned in pastel blue net
over taffeta made floor length. She
wore a white hat and carried a cascade
bouquet of red and Whitearoset. Har-
old Ellis Hatmnoola of Welland was
groornsinan,
Following the ceremony a reception
was held at the home of the bride's
parents, The bride's mother received
with the bride and groom. Also as-
sisting was the groom's another, who
Wore a white dreaa and accessories.
Luncheon was served buffet style
from a table centred with the bride's
three-tier wedding cake topped with
a Miniature bride and groom. A
bouquet of roses in crystal bowl torn-
pitted the attractive appointments.

veil was held in place by a halo of

of delphenium and Johanna Hill roses.
Miss Isabel Miller, sister of the bride
as bridesmaid was gowned in yellow
marquisette over taffeta and carried
a white prayer book, L/Cpl, D. H,
Burgess of London was groomsman.

Following the ceremony a buffet
luncheon was served on the lawn,
after which the bride and groom left
for a trip to the Georgian Bay
Islands and pants north, the bride
travelling in a 'Aqua dress' and hat
with white shoes and white accessor-
ies, On their return the groom will
return to his duties in London and the
bride will reside in Wingham,
OBITUARY
Mrs. W. Nethery
The funeral of Mrs. William Neth-
ery, East Wawanosh, who died in
Clinton hospital following a long ill-
ness'," was held from the family resi-
dence on Wednesday afternoon, July
7th, with burial in, the Union cemetery
at Blyth.
Mrs. Nethery was formerly .Miss
Ada Isabelle Campbell, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. James Campbell
of Nile and was 54 years of age. For
nine years she suffered greatly from
rheumatism and a short time ago
complications set in and she was taken
to Clinton hospital.
Besides her husband, she is survived
by one son and three daughters. They
are, Alexander, Isabelle, Marian and
Jean. One daughter died in infancy.
Also surviving are two brothers, Wil-
liam of Nile and James of Goderich.
The funeral service was conducted
by Rev. P. H. Streeter of Blyth, rector
of Trinity Anglican church, Belgrave,
of which the departed woman was a
member. The pall bearers were Mar-
tin Grasby, Harry Grasby, Jack John-
ston, Norman Walsh', Ernest Noble
and Earl Noble. Sympathy for the
bereaved family and the high esteem
in which Mrs. Nethery was held by
friends was shown in the many beauti-
ful flowers received.

Earld Edward Denny
The auditorium of Fordwich United
Church could not hold the large con-
gregation that were present to pay
their last respects to Earld Edward
Denny, who passed on at his home
in Fordwich on Friday. Mr. Denny
had been the popular postmaster at
Fordwich since 1919. The service was
conducted by Rev. J. W. Johnson, who
recently was minister of the church,
and Rev. E. M. Caldwell, rector of the
Anglican church. The choir sang
"Shall we gather at the River" and
the hymns, favourites of the deceased
were, "Abide with Me" and "Safe in
the Arms of Jesus".
Howick Legion attended the service
in a body and a large number of
Legion members from the surround-
ing district were present. The Listowel'
Boys' Band headed the funeral pro-
cession and a firing party were pres-
ent from Listowel Depot, ,
Following the .burial service Com-
rade Archie Roberts read the Legion
committal service, the firing party
fired three volleys. ") The Last Post
and Reveille were sounded. The
members of the Legion deposited
poppies on the flag draped casket.
Comrades of the Legion, M. Nash,
A, Mealian, Gordon Brown, William
Hawksbee, Bert Harris and George
Inglis were the pallbearers. Tie
flowerbearers were members of the
Curling Club.
Mr. Denny was born at Fordwich
and in 1915 enlisted with the 71st
battalion serving with the 50th battal-
ion in Prance. He was gassed and
his war disability was the cause of his
death. He was seriously ill only a
few days prior to his death. In 1919
he was appointed postmaster of the

he took an active interest in its af-
fairs when his health permitted.
Ile is survived by his Wife, the
former Mary Frew to whom ha as
married in 1919; one son Edward,
serving overseas; two daughters,

father and his stepmother; Mr. and
