However there is such a thing as going too far with boyish ideas. Next to our office there is a building which has a hole near the roof of considerable size. For some- time this has been the home of famil- ies of pigeons. During the past couple of years some boys have been trapping these pigeons by the use of a box that allowed the birds to go in Out they could not gLt out. This was a very good way- of snaring pigeons. Of late however, the lads have bcon trying out a new method. It may be the means of catching a lot of these fine feathered friends, but if one of them is lucky enough to escape it is usually with a broken or twisted leg. This new method is the use of muskrat traps. Several pigeons have been hobbling around after breaking away or being released. Come on boys 'be good sports. Trap the pigeons in a fair humane way. * * BLOOD DONOR CLINICS A man walked into a Blood Donor -Clinic in Hamilton last week and gave his pint of blood. This man knew the value of these clinics as his life had been saved because someone bad donated blood through the Red Cross Society. He was one of those who was wounded at Dieppe. It was found necessary that his leg be amputated and it was just as necessary that he receive a blood transfusion in order that he could successfully withstand the operation. He received the trans- fusion and recovered and now is back home in Hamilton and be is giving his blood in the hope that it will save mine other soldiers life. Here is a man who has risked 14.4 all, lost a log, yet feels he owes the boys over there' every possible support now that he is back home. Every few weeks the mobile Mood Donor Clinic will visit Wingham. Is your name on the Blood Donor List? U the Canadians get into the thick of things during the summer the aced will be greater than ever, .* MUNICIPAL GARBAGE COLLECTION Several times during the past few years Winghant Council have talked over the possibility 9f instituting A system of municipal collection of gar- bage. The opinion, if we judge cor- recPY, is all in favour of such a move when the war is over or before this if ii can be done satisfactorily. Such . collections have been started in sev- eral municipalities in recent years and has proved a, fine type of service. It will be a fine thing when we have such a scheme here. In the meantime there an opportunity for anyone to have their garbage collected each week, The cost is not great, Already about 150 homes here are using this service and all you have to do to get on the list is to give your name to the clerk of the town.
