returned from overseas last week.
Jack, who has been in England for
some time, was in hospital there suf-
fering from Arthrites, after a visit at
home he will take further hospital
treatment. His many friends hope for
a complete recovery.

Public School Concert
There was a splendid attendance in
the Town Hall on Thursday evening
last when Wroxeter Public School
pupils put on their annual Christmas
Entertainment, under the direction of
Miss K. Irwin, Miss Mary MacDonald
and the Music instructor, Mr. Arnold
Earls. A lovely tree and seasonable
decorations made the Hall a suitable
setting. The programme was in the
form of a play depicting the different
seasons and was called 'The Festival
of the Months". Ronald McMichael,
represented the Old Year and was bid-
den farewell with the singing of Auld
Lang Syne. Bernell Smith, represent-
ed the New Year and was greeted with
the pupils singing Hail Hail the Gangs
all here, and a chorus Happy New

The section of the Farm Forum
under the leadership of Mr. Jack
Buchanan, took a collection amounting
to $16.00 for the Russian Relief which
was forwarded to Goderich by the
treasurer, Mrs. Norman McDowell..
On Friday afternoon the Christmas
Concert at S. S. No. 6, was put on by
the teacher, Miss Elaine Bamford and
the pupils, Mr. Earl Wig-htman was
chairman. The program opened by
singing several Christmas carols, the
Program consisted of recitations, dia-
logues, solos, duets, Piano solos, chor-
uses and -a Patriotic drill. The pro-
gram closed with the singing of the
National Anthem, after which Santa
made his appearance and each child
was presented with a gift, a bag of
candy and WI orange.
The temperature in this district on
Sunday morning was 25* below

Turnberry S. S. No. 2 Concert
The annual Sdhool Entertainment
and Christmas Tree for S, S. No. 2,
Turnberry, was held on Tuesday ev-
ening of last week. There was a real
Christmas atmosphere with the deep
snow, most of fhe audience arriving
in sleigh loads.
Mr. Jno. L. MacEwen was chair-
man with Miss Thacker assisted by
the music teacher, Miss Velma Wheel-
er in charge. The programme through-
out was excellent showing splendid
training.
The opening number was a chorus
entitled "Merry Christmas"; recitation,
Daddy's purse, by Gerald Timm. Per-
haps the highlight of the evening was
a drill, "The Alice Blue Gown," by a
group of girls; recitation Jack Sa.n-
burn; duet by Zelma Stamper and
Lloyd Wheeler, "The Keys aof Heav-
en"; dialogue, "The Census Taker", by
Wendell Stamper and Isabel San-,
burn; solo, Ken Felker, "We Three
Kings"; recitation, Annie MacNaugh-
ton; dance, "Today is Christmas Day";
group of Carols; flag drill; recitation,
Mary MacNaughton; recitation, Nor-
ma Felker; song by juniors, "Away in
a Manger"; dialogue, "Uncle John" by
Helen MacEwen, Wendell Stamper
and Charlie Sanburn; star drill; dancer
"Ding Dong Bell; pantomine, "As
with Gladness Men of Old; recitation,
Lloyd Wheeler, "'Twas the Night af-
ter Christmas"; carol singing; skit
"The Old Ford Car"; recitation, Mae
Sanburn, "Vengeance Deferred";
song by school, "Santa is Coming";
Mary Felker spoke the,. closing words
wishing all A Merry Christmas. An
assisting artist was Miss Madeline
Thacker of Teeswater, who gave two
readings, Hiram in the City and It
isn't anybody's business, Santa Claus
arrived in due time and with his as-
sistants 'presented the children with
gifts and treats. Words of apprecia-
tion were spoken to the teachers for
their, untiring efforts in making the
concert such a splendid success.
North Wroxeter War` Workers
Mrs. Edwin Bennett opened her
home one day last week for the Wrox-
'eter North group of war workers, with
10 members present, A quilt was
stunted and also guilt blocks made.
Mrs. Melvin Willets offered her home
for December 29th when a fill' report
of the years work will be given and
officers elected .fro 1948.

expressed the appreciation of the
School Board to the teachers for their
untiring efforts to make the Public
School concert the best yet.

The December meeting of the W,

The annual meeting of the Sunday
School was held on Thursday after-
noon. Rev. W. G, Rose, was chair-
man and Norman. McDowell secretary
for the meeting. The meeting opened
by singing "I Need-Thee Every Hour."
„Rev. Rose read the Scripture lesson
from 1st Cor. 3 chapter. It was decid-
ed to send $10.00 to the British
Christmas Cheer Fund. The election

A very pleasant event. was held on
Friday evening when the teachers and
officers of the United Church Sunday
School held their annual Christmas
entertainment and social evening. Rev.
J. L. Foster presided and' the follow-
ing numbers given by the pupils of the
various classes were enjoyed. Pro-
gramme opened with a carol, It came
upon the midnight clear. A' group
from Miss Nicklins class gave an am-
