An Anson boniber from Port Al-
bert made a forced landing on Satur-
day afternoon in Mr. Kenneth Cam-
erons field, three miles north-west of
St. Helens. Engine trouble was the
cause. None of the crew of five were,
injured but the plane was 'badly
damaged.
Plans are being made for an At
Home under the auspices of the Wo-
men's Institute in the community hall,
on Friday night. Proceeds will be
used for war work,

Brick Church Tank-offering
Brick Church w, M. S. held their
Thank-offering meeting at the home'of
Mrs. Herson Irwin with a good num-
ber in attendance. The meeting was
in charge of Mrs. Irwin's group,
The . Scripture, Micah 6:6-8 and
Luke'4:18-21 was taken by Mrs. Robt,
Coultes. A reading "Love is Just and
'chid" by Mrs, G. Shiell made a suit-
able introduction for the study topic,
The discussion on "Economic Security
for All" the second step toward a
Christian Canada, was led by Mrs.
Cecil Coultes. Through a review of
conditions the requirements
for a better social order were- devel-
oped.
The Societies feeling of regret at
the loss of Mrs. Thomas Taylor, an
esteemed merliber, was expressed by
Mrs. L. Wightman.
Mrs. Leask McGee led in prayer.
The meeting was brought to a 'close
by the hymn "Rise up, 0 Men of God"
followed by the Benediction.

The November meeting of the W,
N. S. of the United Church was held
at the home. of Mrs. Allen Munroe
oat Thursday afternoon. The theme of
the meeting was "Peace" with Mrs,
M.aeNaughton in charge. The meet-
ing opened with the singing of "Lead
us 0 Father in the paths of. Peace",
No. 753 in the Hymnary was read. re-
sponsively, The words Blessed be the
Lord God of Israel, for He path visit-
ed- and redeemed his people. This
Was followed 'by prayer by the leader.
"He leadeth me" was the title of a
poem read by Mrs. Munroe. "34-
• compense" a poem written by a Can-
adian soldier at the battle of the
Somme was read by Mrs. Sawtell. The
second hymn chosen was "For all the
Saints who from their labor rest." In
the absence of Mrs. Howes, the intro-
duction of the new Study Book pre-
pared by her was given by Mrs.
Munroe. The business period brought
a discussion on several important
items. A poem by Laura Moore
Wright entitled "God help us now"
was read -by Mrs. MacNaughton. Mrs.
D. W'. ,Rae took charge of the Clip
Sheets which questions and answers
brought to mind facts on Temperance.

was the closing hymn. All joining in

Mrs. Fleming Honoured
Among' the honours which have,
come to outstanding war workers is
one of special interest to this com-
munity, Recently Mrs. Isabella
Fleming of Toronto, who is. • well
known here, having spent the 'summer
seasons for many years with her
daughter, Mrs. Thos. Brown, received
a letter front the Governor General
and Princess Alice in recognition' of
her outstanding war work. Mrs.
Fleming who is in her, 94th year al-
though in failing health still continues
to add to her remarkable number of
beautifully knitted articles.

Agnes Wearying gave a reading, "The

gave a reading from the book "Tales
from Free China," Frances Wylie and
Helen Sawtell favored with• a duet,
"When. Mothers of Salem", Following
the business period, Alice Howes con-
ducted games, Taps and the singing
of the Naticinal Anthem brought an
interesting meeting to a Close,
Bride and Groom Presented
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Allister
Green (nee Gladys Weir) was the
scene of a happy gathering on Mon-
clay evening' lost, when the group
known as the "Edgar Cousins" met
and presented them with an electric
toaster, a number of kitchen gagets
and a sum of • money. Games ,were
enjoyed and during the evening an
address was read by Mrs. 'Donald Ire-
land of TeesWater, the gifts 'being pre-
sented by Mr. Edgar •Storehouse of

A.Y.P.A. First Meeting'
The first regular meeting of , the
newly organized A.Y.1?.A. of Trinity
Church was held Friday evening at
the borne of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Wade,
with an, attendance of 23. The presi-
dent, Dorothy Wade, conducted the
it-meting which opened with a hymn,
followed by prayer 'by the Rector,
Rev. P. H. Streeter. Shirley Nethery
was pianist. Minutes of the organ-
ization meeting were read by the sere-
tory, Beth Bryclges and membership
fees were paid.
At the' conclusion of the 'business
the following program was presented:
vocal duet by Shirley and Murray
Bradburn.; paper by Marian Nethery
entitled "The Bishop of Huron"; vocal
trio, Norma Brydges, Ruth Higgins
and Fern Nethery. A. log book was
prepared and read by Mr. Streeter and
was very interesting.
Elizabeth Young and Alex Nethery
acted as captains for a Quiz. Contest
which was conducted by Shirley Neth-
ery,
The next meeting will be held at

Brydges on December 4th, Mrs. R.

the supper a musical' program was
presented in the auditorium of the
Church consisting of solos and elects
by Mrs. W McCool and Jack Reavie,
of Wingham; solos by Mr, North.:
wood, of Wingham and numbers by
the Male Quartette of the Church,
Ross Anderson, George Johnston,
Clifton Walsh and Norman Keating.
Miss Velma Wheeler, organist of the
church acted as accompanist and. Rev.
G. H. Dunlop, minister of the church
was chairman,
School Teachers Held Meeting
The. Public School teachers of East-
Wawanosh and Morris met in the Bel-
grave School on Friday afternoon.
This was the second of such meetings
since September which are being held
this year for the purpose of discus-
sing topics and problems of general
interest, to public school teachers.
Clarence Grainger, teacher of the'
Walton school acted as chairman, and. •
the subjects discussed included Xmas.
concerts and the duties of the teacher
to the community.

met at the home of Stanley Cook on
Monday evening with an attendance
of 22, The next meeting will be held
