Alonza Finley
Following an illness of
months Alonza Finley pased -on at his
home, corner of William and John
Streets, Monday afternoon, August
3rd. He was in his 66th year and
was born at Wroxeter but had lived
in Wingham since he was sixteen
years of age. For thirty-one years
he was a moulder at the Western
Foundry and he was a member of
Local No, 492 of the Moulder's Union,
He was also a member of Wingham
Lodge L.O.L., and of the Salvation
Army. Thirty-seven years ago he
was married at Gorrie to Laura Cal-
vert.
He leaves to mourn his passing be-
sides his wife, three daughters and
four sons, Mrs. Merton (Mary) Petti-
grew of Toronto; Cecil Tenant of
London; Mrs. Percy (Ruth) Jarvis,
Wingham; James Hamilton, Wing-
ham; Private Warnold Raymond,
Royal Canadian Regiment, Overseas;
Private Edward Alonza, 5th Armour-
ed Division, Overseas; Mrs. Arthur
(Florence) Furness. He is also sur-
vived by four brothers and three sis-
ters, 'Robert of Toronto; Howard,
Lower Wingham; David of Wingham;
Joseph of Ingersol; Mrs, James Hollo-
way, Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Rich-
ard Tenant, Hepworth and Mrs. James,
Robinson, Lower Wingham, and eight
grandchildren.

There passed away at his late resi-
dence, Turnberry on,Perlday„ July 31st,
Eli E, Bot, in his 75th year, Air, Bolt
was. a life-long resident of Turnberry
and was kighly respected and well-
known throughout the community, He
bad been ill for several months. He
was a member -of Salem 'United
Church, Surviving besides his wife,
the former Isabella Gemmil, are two
sons and one daughter,, William and
Leslie of Salem and Mrs. John Osier
of Listowel. He is also survived 'by
three sisters, Mrs, j, Gemmil and
Miss Eva Bolt of Wingham, and Mrs.
Ezra Merkley of London.
The funeral was held from his late
residence, Lot 5, 'Concession 6, Turn-
berry, on Sunday afternoon, The serve
ice was conducted by his pastor, Rev,
J: L. Foster of Wroxeter, Interment
took place in Wroxeter Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: J. T. Wylie,
Jas. McBurney, Ed. Errington, Wm.
Taylor, Chester Higgins, Lloyd Hen-
ning.
Alexander Stpwart
Friends in this community learned
with regret of the death, following a
lengthy illness, of Alexander Stewart
of Windsor formerly of the 2nd line
of Turnberry. Mr. Stewart was the
son of the late Donald and Mary Ste-
wart, and he passed on in Grace Hos-
pital, Windsor, Sunday morning, Aug-
ust 2nd. Prior to going to Windsor
in 1913 he farmed but carried on the
business of insurance adjuster in
Windsor, His wife the former Millic-
ent. Abraham passed on some years
ago. He is survived' by a daughter,
Mary Elizabeth of Windsor, two sis-
ters and two brothers, Miss Agnes
Stewart of Windsor; Mrs. Roy Porter
of Turnberry; James of Windsor and
John Donald of Toronto.
The funeral was held from the home
of his brother-in-law, Mr. Roy Porter,
Turnberry, on Tuesday afternoon, The
service was conducted by Rev. Ken-
neth MacLean, minister of St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church. Burial
took place in Wroxeter Cemetery. The
pallbearers were his two brothers,
James and John, Thos. Abraham, John
L. McEwen, Ralph Metcalfe and a
cousin, Wm. Stewart.

Mr. and Mrs. ,Charles Campbell,
Wingham, announce the marriage of
their younger daughter, Evelyn Mae
to Private William Young of Gode-
rich, at present stationed at Camp
Borden. The ceremony was perform-
ed in London by the Rev. E. S. Arm-
strong on Wednesday evening, July
29th.

on Monday to London after visiting

A wedding of interest in this vicinity
was solemnized at First Church,
Westminister, Wilton Grove, when
Valerie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.
D. Ellwood of Victoria, B.C,, became
the bride of George Ralph Patterson,
son of Mr: and Mrs. Laurence Patter-
son, of Sibbald, Alberta. Rev. James
Scobie, uncle of the bride, officiated.
A reception ,followed at the manse.
Receiving with the bridal couple were
Mrs. Scobie and Mrs. Donald Patter-
son, of Westfield, grandmother of the
bridegroom. After a honeymoon Mr.
and Mrs. Patterson will take up resi-
dence at Montreal. The couple were
entertained at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Anderson of Westfield,
uncle and aunt of the bridegroom.

Orange Plant Bearing Fruit
Mrs. S. G. Maine is the proud owner
of an orange plant which at present
has two ripe oranges growing on it.
The plant is not three years old as
yet and one orange is as large as some
on sale, while the other is the size of
a lemon. These are worth seeing and
Mrs. Keine has them in the window, in
view to those who pass.
Master Arthur Galbraith, Fergus, is
spending his holidays with his cousin,
Bradley Galbraith.
Mr. Fred Beck, Harriston, will be
the guest speaker at' the Sunday
School Anniversary being held on
Sunday at 11 a.m. in the United
Church. There will also be a special
Sunday School choir. All are invited

Mrs. Eugene McDonald
The death occurred in the Wingham
General Hospital on Saturday, August
1st., 1942, of Martha McIlwain, belov-
ed wife of Eugene McDonald in her
67th year. The daughter of the late
John.and Elizabeth McIlwain, she was
born on the 10th of Turnberry, March
26th, 1876. On May 23, 1900 she was
married to Eugene McDonald and has
resided in Wingham ever since. Be-
sides her husband she is survived by
one daughter Gertrude (Mrs. Jack
Wilson) of Listowel;,, three grand-
daughters and also three sisters, Mrs.
T. C. Robertson, Kelwood, Man., her
twin sister, ' Mrs, Frank Armstrong,
Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Chas. Elliott,
Bluevale Road. Service was conduct-
ed by the Rev, John Lucas of the
Baptist Church, of which she' was a
member. Interment in Wingham
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Dave Bene-
dict, Walter VanWyck, Dave Jewitt,
Chas, Elliott, John Kelly and Frank
Sell,
