L, and Mrs. Ball of Gorrie, Annual Sunday 'School Concert A very pleasant evening was spent in the United Church school roorzt,on Tuesday of last' week when th'e S. S. children assisted by their teachers and officers put on their annual concert. A splendid program of choruses, solos, recitations and a dialogue were pre- sided over by Rev. J. E. Foster. .In- stead of the usual treat for th,e schol- ars, they themselves contributed to the British War Orphans Fund. Refresh- ments were served at the close and a social hour enjoyed. The annual meeting will. be held on the evening of Jan- uary 8th at 8 p.m. in Red Cross room. Every citizens in this community should show their interest by being present to hear reports of the work done in 1941 and help make plans for the coming' year. Tavener preached the New Year's message from Rev. 21-13. On the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates and on the west three gates. He showed how the gates, of the coming year are opening up. The gates of Brotherhood, Destiny and Memory are facing us. These ideals are imporant at this time of world crisis, Brotherhood between the English speaking nations has made a firmer advance recently. The other ,gates face all nations and all individ- uals, It was a message of encourage- ' merit for the new year. London Student Preached Rev. F. G, Fowler 'conducted the service in Knox Presbyterian Church after being absent for two Sunday's due to ill health. Mr. Rribertson, student from the Western University at London preached the sermon. He based his message on the text "They all with one accord began to make excuses." Beginning next Sunday the regular morning service will com- mence at 11 o'clock. Mr, and Mrs. R, F. Garniss and Miss Olive Scott attended the funeral of their cousin, Frank M. Scott, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack in Toronto last Tuesday, and was buried in Maitland Bank Ceme- tery at Seaforth on Saturday.
