Th ere was a hit of water and smoke d4m 4g,e but things could have been worse if Mr, Stephenson's son Robert hadn't been at home according to fire chief David Hastings.. Mr. Stephenson was away from home. The Brussels Fire Depart- ment answered the call about 4:15 and were there for about -rs minute,." to extinguish the fire before it g,o to the attic. Mr. Hastings estimated the damage cost at about $200 or $300 as probably the pannelling and the ceiling in the sitting room will need to be replaced. sitting Correction In last week's issue of the Brussels Post an error was made in the headline over the story on Russell Knight. The headline read Ross Knight remembers when it should have been Russell Knight remembers. Aly, in acutline underneath the picture of the F. F. Madill graduates it said that .Mrs, Doreen Raymond a teacher at F.E. Madill was presenting the awards. This. was incorrect. Mrs. Raymond is on the szaff of the Brussels Public School. Walton pair exhibit in Royal's barrow show Two Huron County youths - Scott and Jane Robinson of R.R.3, Walton participated in the junior Barrow Show at the Royal Winter Fair last Thursday. The Junior Barrow show is for people age 14-21 and each person takes two pigs. The pigs are probed for backfat and marks are based as follows - 40 per cent for backfat 30 per cent on how well they grew and 30 per cent appraisal by the judge. After the ribbons are handed out the top 20 pigs go in a sale and the rest go to market. It was Scott's third time st the show and Jane's first. They think it's unusual that Huron County is Ontario'ssecond largest producer of market hogs and yet they were the only entrants from Huron in the competition. Although they didn't. really win any prizes the Robinsons did get some money for participating in the competition. The market at Brussels Stockyards met an uneven demand with buyers being selective, and heavy or over- finished steers being severe- ly discounted. Heifers traded steady on Friday- to strong. All weights Of pigs traded higher. There were 1277 cattle and 2163 pigs on offer. Choice Steers - 64.00 to 67.00 with sales to 69.50. Good Steers - 62.00 to 64:00.
