107th Year — Issue No. 42
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1978
The time for Municipal Elections is here.
So far it has not seemed to generate much
excitement in Brussels. If that is an
expression of apathy concerning municipal
affairs it is unfortunate. Is the apparent lack
of interest because people have been
completely satisfied with the present
council? People should be concerned. It is
oVer business Council conducts. Hopefully
there will be the names of well qualified
Candidates on the ballots if an election is
necessary.

Brussels Wolf Cubs will hold their annual
"Apple Day" This Saturday, October 21st.
When a polite young fellow knocks on your
door, with his polished apples, for sale, do
not turn him away with an abrupt "No
Thanks". This is their only fund raising
project. These youngsters turn salesmen for
the day to support their group. The Wolf
Cub packs are fine training grounds to help '
lads grow up into fine self-respecting
Canadian citizens to be proud of. Buy their
apples on Saturday.

The recently published results of a Gallop
Poll must have been a shock to those who
want to get rid of the Queen as Canadian
head of state. The poll showed that almost
twice as many Canadians (58% to 30%)
preferred Queentlizabeth to remain rather
than have the Governor General replace her.
Only the French preferred the Governor
General and only by 49%. Those of the other
Mother Tongues were 56% in favour of the
Queen. That looks like trouble for those who
persist in their effort to deprive us our
Queen.

Many of us are apt to groan and complain
over' disability problems we accept as major
handicaps and do little to help ourselves
overcome them. Then we see; hear, or read,
about others, who have 'grater problems than
our own, who do not give up. They,
concentrate On developing skills to cope with
it. They succeed to a remarkable degree.
One example of such a person is an 18 year
