Marie and Mrs. Davis Adams en- tertained at the latter's home in honour of their mother, Mrs. Alberta Elliott, who celebrated her 90th birthday, August 24. Previous to the occasion, dinner guestsiwere Mrs. Mae Rea, Listowel; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall, Bluevale; Gordon Yeoman, Wroxeter; Mrs, Evelyn Biller, Grimsby; and Truman Nortor, Burling- ton. During the afternoon and evening, friends and neighbours called to offer conjatlulations and best wishes. A family dinner was hosted at Turnberry Tavern by grandsons Bill Ste. Marie, St Catherines and Andy of Wingham. Great grand- children Kevin and Shelley Ste. Marie wet present, also Ellen Williams of St. Catherines. Mrs. Elliott was the recipient of many beautiful cards, flowers and gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Miller and girls were in Toronto for the weekend. Visiting Mrs. Lytle Gordon recently were her sister`, Mrs. Emma McCallum, St. Thomas and nephew Frank Hunter, Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Carman Fischer, Rexdale, spent the Weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Stanley Fischer. A short skit concerning the life and work of Mary Slesser, a Scottish girl who went to Calbar, Afica, as a missionary in 1876. was presented by Mrs. AllanL Mandell, Mts. Ross Mann, Mrs. Joe Walker, Mrs. Glenn .Snell, .Mrs John Jenkins and Mrs. Eldon icialon. Interesting discus- sion befOre and after the skit was lively and added much to the enjoyment of the study. Members were reminded of the Fall board meeting at. Lucknow' Presbyterian Church on. Sept. 11, a workshop at Teeswater on Sept, 18, Maitland presbyterian Fall Rally, Wingham, October'5 and the Fall Thankoffering -meeting on Oct 15. The request of the closing hymn was "Let us, as night is falling, on God our Maker calling, give thanks to him, the giver good." This fol- lowed with refreshments served by Mrs. J. Walker, Mrs. Harold Grant and the hostess.
