Farmstead and Home Improvement Competition held in the Brussels,

and Home Improvement Competition Awards Banquet held in Brussels

4-H is topic at Bluevale WI
The 4-H Homemaking club
leaders were named at the
August meeting of Bluevale
W.I.
They were: Mrs. Jim
Thompson, Mrs. Harris
Campbell, Mrs. "Ken
Chambers, Mrs. Wendell
Stampers, Mary Ellen Elston
and MrS". Doug Garniss.
Institue president Mrs.
Charles Mathers opened the
meeting.
Minutes of the previous
meeting were read by
secretary Mrs. Mel Craig.
She reported that get well
cards were sent to Mrs. Jack
Nicholson and. Charles Bos-
mand and thank-you cards
were received from Margo
MacFarlane and a donation
was sent to Wingham and
District hospital, for the pur-
chase of toys.
District president Mrs.
John. Freeman was guest
speaker at the meeting. She
spoke about 4-H home-
making clubs and noted that

ARE YOU SURE THAT'S OURS? — Bradley Galbraith of. R.R.3,
Wingham didn't look too sure that he had actually won the tea service but
his wife put on a confident smile as she posed for photographers at the
Farmstead and Ho me Improvement Competion Awards banquet held in
Brussels on Wednesday. The Galbraiths placed first in the Most
Attractive Farmstead (already improved) class. Presenting them with
their trophy is A.D. McLeod of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce

their homemaking skills in
4-H.
She noted: that or-
ganizations such— is 4-H
should involve and stimulate
both members and leaders
should yield lasting friend-
ships.
Everyone should learn to
accept the plain things in
life, Mrs. Freeman said and
should watch for the beauty
in natural things. She noted
that great joy could be found
just by watching clouds,
listening to rain fallipg, and
spend time with loved ones.
Mrs. Stamper thanked Mrs.
Freeman and presented her
with a gift.
The ladies in the Blue-
vale Institute will make
cookies for the International.
Plowing Match for Sept. 27
and pies for Sept. 29 LP.M.
banquet. Mrs. Peacock
showed.the WI quilt which
will be judged in the 1PM
quilting competition.
The roll call was answered
by members, by introducing
friends they had brought to
the mzeting.
The committee is made up
of Mrs. Mathers, Mrs. Mur-
ray Jenkitis, Mrs. Peacock
and Mrs. Donald Street.
The September meeting
will be held at the home of
Mrs. Harry Elliott on Sept.
13. Home and Country
Magazines may be left with
Mrs. Bill Peacock for
delivery to the Plowing
Match.
