St. Thomas on Friday for the funeral of the late Mrs. Roy Smaldan, who died, at the age of 94 following a lengthy. illness. They also visited, their aunt, Mrs. Alex McDougall, who celebrated her 98th birthday 'on July 11. Mrs. Lylle Gordon attended the Annual Scandinavian Tour picnic held on Sunday at the home .of Miss Margaret Dickson at Atwood. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred ;Strickler attended the Forrester's church service at Londesboro United Church followed by a picnic at the home of Rev. Stanley MacDonald. The parade was led by piper Robert Bremner and Mr. MacDonald gave an inspiring sermon titled "You can't go it alone!" in which he stressed the importance of fraternal organiza- tions where people work together. Keith Elliott, Manager of the Federal Business Development Bank has announced the appoint- ment 'of Peter T. Huxtable, B.A. as Management Services Officer for Perth and. Huron., This new service is . being added in response to the growing needs of small and medium sized businesses in the area. Mr. Huxtable will be respon: sible for providing informatitin and .assistance on over 100 Government financial and non- financial programmes. These programmes include assistance to businesses engaged in farming, fishing, manufacturing, whole- saling, retailing, tourism, etc. As Management Services Officer, Mr. Huxtable will also be respon- sible for arranging and presenting 12 to 15 Management Seminars on subjects such as Bookkeeping, Taxation, Financial ALVIN McLELLAN son of Mr. and Mrs. Clement McLellan R.R. #4, Brussels, graduated recently from' Fanshawe College London. He received his Interprovincial Licence in Auto Body. A former student at Brussels Public and V.E. Madill Wingham, he is now an employee of Bridge Motors, Brussels. Vet club meets [by Terry Smith] The regular meeting' of the Huron County 4-H Vet Club was held recently at the Dinsmore Ranch, Fordwich. The club's August meeting will be held :at the Seaforth Vet Clinic and will include a demonstration on animal care by the veterinarians. The Dinsmore girls showed Vet Club members two of their horses to illustrate the good health expected of animals for the club projects. The lesson for the meeting, was how to maintain good animal health. Topics discussed included maintaining clean stalls for the stock, avoiding the spread of .disease by clothing, other stock animals and people arid proper feeding and management or a healthier animal: and Huron. These seminars are designed to help owners and managers of small businesses improve their management skills. Mr. Huxtable will also be preschting several information sessions in the area to acquaint local business people with this Small Business Information Service. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Huxtable, a long time resident of Stratford, has spent the last year in the Credit De'partment of the Stratford Branch. Previously Mr,. Huxtable was for seven years a local Secondary School Teacher in addition to ten years in the personal finance field. Mr. Huxtable is here to assist business in any way possible. Fischer in: Kitchener on Wednesday. He was 93 and his wife . was the late Minnie Sinalldon. One., son and three daughters survive; also a sister and two brothers. Mr. and Mrs.. Russel Playford and daughters, Thorold are holidaying with Mr. and Mrs. Hovbard Mitchell. Miss Sandra Cameron who is employed at Barrie is spending, two weeks with her family here.
