Eric LeDrew officiated in a pretty summer candlelight ceremony at the Brussels United Church on June. 17 when Colleen Marie Raymond daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Raymond, became the bride of Douglas. Lorne Smith, son of Mrs. Adah Smith and the late Mr. Douglas Smith. The Matron of honour was Mrs. Carol Webster, sister of the bride and the bridesmaids were, Mrs. Gwen Raymond; sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Ginny Hooton, Burlington and Miss Loree Gammie, Lucknow, friends of the bride and Miss Margie Raymond, sister of the bride. The groom's bestman was Keith Raymond, brother of the bride. The guests were ushered by Larry Smith, brother of the groom, Gary Nuttall, Toronto, Glen Warwick, Bluevale, and John McCrudden, Cambridge, friends of the groom. The head usher was the groom's brother Robert Smith. , Miss Karen Pascoe, Oakville played traditional wedding music. Miss Peggy Gibson and Miss Joan Mair sang "wedding Prayer" and "Annie's Song" accompanied accompanied on the piano by Miss Michelle McCulcheon. `' The reception _ was held at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. Guests attended from London, Oakville, Burlington, Toronto, England, Lucan, Brampton, Thunder Bay, Guelph, Milton,, Cambridge, Kitchener, Stratford and Milverton. The couple will reside in London where the groom is an accountant with the firm of Multi Fittings Ltd. Preceding the wedding there were several showers held for the bride. On May 24 a community shower was held in the Brussels United Church. Several musical numbers were enjoyed and humorous skits were presented. The bride- thanked the group for the many beautiful gifts received. A delicious lunch was served. • On June 4 a number of close friends gathered at the home of Janet Smith to honour the bride and present her with many gifts. On Thursday the Tea and Pinning was held at the Nurses Residence at Victoria The Social Services Committee reported to Huron County Council on June 30 that it had been advised by the Ministry of Community and Social Services that effective May 1, 1978, the co-payment , portion of the Nursing HOme rate has increased to $8.50 per day from $8.30 per day and that the daily Inter- mediate Care Rate has been increased to $21.30 from $19.60 retroactive to April 1, 1978. The Homemaker rates ap- proved by County Council in December 1977 have now been approved by the Ministry ef- fective January 1, 1978. They are $4.20 per hour in town and $4.60 per hour out of town; $33 per day in town and $36.80 per day out of town; $36 daily live-in service in town and $36 daily live-in service out of town. The Victorian Order of Nurses rate approved by County Council in December 1977 has now been approved by the Ministry ef- fective January 1, 1978 at $12.25 per visit. The report to County Council stated that the social services department caseload for May remained the same as for April at 100 cases. The number of beneficiaries, however, has de- creased from 334 to 270. The total expenditure to May 31, 1978 was $166,283 which is $5,437 less than the pro-rated budget for five months. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Watson spent the past month visiting with their son David' and his wife in Lloydminster, Alberta, touring Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise and Edmonton, then through the States to Vancouver where they spent a week or so with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nelson and boys. Mr. Harvey McClure visited with his son Rae in Edmonton, travelled by camper to Vancouver where they visited at Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nelson's and other places of interest. Mrs. Ray Huether took her mother, Mrs. Watson Webster of Clinton to London on Sunday where they visited Mr. Webster who is a patient in University Hospital having being transferred from Clinton Hospital Saturday night following- injuries on ' Wednesday in a fall from a load of hay on his son's farm. John Leeming of Kenora visited his grandmother while home on the weekend.
