Huron planner Gary Davidson
pointed out that Belgrave with its
new subdiviSion was a case where
a municipality had started
something.
He said it showed that if you
provide land there are people whO
want to live in harnlets.
Michael Marriott said that if
severances were allowed for
residential development that
looking down the road into the
future 10 or 20 years from now it
was conceivable that there was
going to be ribbon development
along the main arteries. He said
this would take away prime
agricultural land and also push
the prices of lots up.
Gary Davidson said it was
important to prevent that and to
define the boundaries and not
allow ribbon development to such
an extent that sewers would have
to be put in.
In answer to the question,
"should housing which is part of
a farm unit be permitted on all of
the existing lots in the rural
area?" Bev Brown said she would
like to suggest that that land be
reserved for the legitimate
farmers that have farmed in the ,-
township for so many years.
Gary Davidson said right
now of lots under 25 acres of
which there are 60 in the
township, 45 had residences
while on lots of 25-50 acres of
which ,there are 52 in the
township, 19 have residences.
