The Novice Atom and Bantam
teams were kept busy this past
week, but stormy weather seemed
to fall on the Peewees and
Midgets.
On Monday night, the Atom
and Bantam teams travelled to
Monkton for a double-header.
The Atom team was trailing the
Monkton squad 4-2 at the end of
the second period. The home
team gathered up their unused
energies and dame back to score 5
unanswered goals to win 7-4.
Kevin McArter led the third
period attack with 4 goals and
Rick Knight 1. Marty Rutledge
scored the first 2 goals of the
game. Assists went to Dean
Wheeler, Kevin Johnstona an d
Tim Fritz.
The Bantam , team played.
Elma-Logan in, the next game and
picked up a 5-1 win. Mike Watson
scored.3 goals for the home team
with, Brian Tenpas and Ken
'Higgins scoring the other 2 goals.
Assists went to Paul Johnston and
Kevin Deitner. . •
On Wednesday night at home,
we managed to get 3 games
played. The Seaforth Novice were
in town for an early game. The
Brussels squad won 7-3. The
scoring honours were shared by
Dean Wheeler with 5 and Marty
Rutledge with 2. Assists went to
Marty Rutledge and Bobby
Vance. Dwayne Achilles donned
the pads to play goal in place of
ailing goalie Gary Leis, The Atom
team hosted Blyth and won, by 4-0
score. Tim Fritz and Kevin
McArter scored 2 goals each with
assists going to Rick Knight,
Mike Vader and Wayne Wheeler.
The Bantams played the third
game of the night against Dublin.
At the end of the second period
each team had •scored 2 go.al-s
each. Dublin came back to score
the only goal in the third to win
3-2. Ken Cousins scored both
Brussels' goals with assists going
to Doug McArter and Ken
Higgins.
• Stormy weather on Thursday
prevented. the Midgets from
going out of town and Friday
evening with more of the same
weather kept the Grand Bend
PeeWees and Huron Park Midgets
from coming to town.
On Saturday afteroon, the
Novice and Peewees travelled out
of :town. The novice played in
Mitchell where they won 8-4.
Marty Rutledge picked up 4 goals.
Dean Wheeler 3, Dwayne
Achilles 1. Assists went to Mark
Pennington, Dean Nicholson,
Dwayne Achilles.
The Peewee team travelled to
Huron Park where they won 3-0.
SCoring for Brussels was Darrin
\cots, Kevin McArter, Paul
Machan, Danny A ch illes picked
up an assist.
The Midgets were at home to
Elma-Logan on Saturday after-
noon, The local Atom team were
guests of the Wingham Atoms as
each team' invited a team to
participate in their Minor Hockey
Day. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Kevin McArter scored the
Brussels goal unassisted with
Doug MacFarlane scoring the
Wingham goal from Jason Goodal
and Jamie Robinson. A most
valuable player award was
presented to one member of each
team. Kevin McArter received the
trophy on the Brussels team while
Mitchell Brown, the goalie
received it for the Wingham
team..
