W S holds Christmas meeting
Mx. and Mrs. Wilbur E.
Turnbull were honoured at a
family dinner on Sunday Dec.
11 on the occasion of their sixtieth
wedding anniversary. The dinner,
held at the Venus Dining House,
Ingersoll, Ontario, was given by
members of the family, Dr. John
0. Turnbull of Seaforth, Mr. Wm.
J. Turnbull of Brussels, Helen
(Mrs. G, H'abkirk) of Ingersoll and
Dorothy (Mrs. .D.S.Lawless) of
Burlington.
Special guests included
relatives of the bride and groom.
Mr. and Mrs. J.R.Turnbull,
Peterborough , Mrs. Christie
Turnbull and Mrs. Florence
McGavin of Seaforth. Nine of
their 11 grandchildren, 14 great
grandchildren and Mr. and Mrs.
Jan Van Vliet • and family
attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Turnbull, the
former Jennie McGavin were
married in McKillop Township on
January 9, 1918 with the Rev. F.
W. Craik officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Turnbull will be
at Home to friends and ,relatives
on Saturday, January 7, 1978
between the hours of 2 to 5 and 7
to 10 at their residence Th omas

Unit meets
The Evening Unit of the United ,
Church held' their Christmas
meeting with other ladies of the
Church.
The president, Rene Richmond
gave words , of welcome "A
Thought For Christmas."
An enjoyed program included a
poem by Sarah Stephenson,
scripture read by Isabel Wheeler
was followed by prayer. Solos
were contributed by Charlene
STephenSon and BEtty Graber;
duets, Charlene and Carrinna
Stephenson and Cathy and Susan „.
Cardiff; readings by Ann Smith
and Marie LeDrew.
Sarah Stephenson Closed the
meeting with prayer.
Mr. West McEachern has gone
to Cambridge, Galt, with his son
Winston and Mrs. McEachern
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mitchell •
are with their family in Thorold.

The W.M.S. held their
Rt.••••••
Christi as meeting at the home of
Mrs. Gordon Engel on
Wednesday, 'Dec. 14 with an
attendance of thirteen members,
6 visitors and 6 children. A
potlock dinner preceded the
meeting. Mrs. Stuart Stevenson,
the new president read a poem
and. Mrs. Earl Dunn presided for
the singing of carols with Mrs.
Stewart Steiss at the piano. Mrs.
Dunn led in prayer. The secretary
Mrs. John Vanass read the
minutes and also a letter
regarding a quilt competition.The
annual meeting of Stratford
Presbyterial will be on January 11
in Knox Church, Stratford. The
roll call was answered with each
member giving a Christmas poem
or reading. Mrs. Clare Veitch
reported on the year's finances
and the catering for the banquet
December 7. The pamphlets
"Alive" are to be handed out on
Sunday at the church service.
Mrs. Stanley Fischer presented
Mrs. Stuart McNair and Mrs.
Glenn Huether each with a cup
and saucer. Both are now living
in Brussels and it is hoped that we
will see them often. Several carols
were sung and the meeting closed
with the Mizpah Benediction.
The Allan Smith family had,
their Christmas party on
Saturday in the Community
Centre..
Mr. and Mrg. Earl Dunn had
their Christmas early on Sunday
at Bloomingdale at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Don Jacklin and
family.
