Bluevale W.M.S.
It was all so 'beautiful, th e.
night, fresh and crisp with
gently falling snow, the home,
exuding the warmth of welcome
with all its fascination of Yuletide
sparkle and gaiety, and the
meeting, the final one oftheyear,
the Christmas one, with Jesus left
in, was a deepening enrichment
of the rhythm of our life together.
This was the W.M.S. meeting
of Bluevale Presbyterian Church
at the residence, of Mrs. Harvey
Robertson. The program
commenced witth„a.‘call to worship
and the singing of carols,
followed by devotions by Mrs,. Joe
Walker and Mrs. Glenn Golley
suggesting that instead of making
Christmas a commercial
extravaganza resulting in total
exhaustion we must put Jesus
back into our hearts and truly
worship him in song, prayer, and
study. Refrain from' excess wuth
with gifts. Think 'of the homeless,
poverty Stricken folk in our midst
and distribute necessary gifts to
them. Share.
The topic, the Birth of. Christ,
was in charge of Mrs. Harry
Elliott, assisted by -Mrs. Keith.
Moffatt, Mrs. Ross Mann, and
Mrs. Wm. Mundell. Surel y they
convinced all thirteen ladies in
attendance, that in this day of
worldly unrest, each of us' must
get down to the business of
putting Christ back into our
Christmases and our lives.
In our search for Christ if we
reach out to others with love,
show concern for them and their
problems, His love reaching out
to us will guide us away from the
sidetracking temptations of this
life to-the wonder and joy of
Christ and his unique birth, so
that when we think of.Christmas
we think of him, and will teach
our children so to do.
Interesting reports were
submitted from the various
secretaries, discussions of
business items were made, and
the meeting closed with carol
singing, prayer and refreshments
.served by Mrs. Joe Walker, Mrs.
Glenn Golley and Mrs. Harvey
Robertson.
At the Sunday morning service
of worship in the United Church ;
Rev. Brown chose for her serttion
title, "God has Kept his
Promise", She said, "Let us ask
ourselves about the challenge of
being the light Of the world.
Remember the essential gift,
freedom of love to do the thing to
be Christians."
George Thomson lit the second
advent candle. It was called
"Bible" candle and placed on the
tree. the chiidith S story was
about an Arab, Jasha. The
children were told about the dead
seas scroll, the oldest version of
the Bible and record of God's
people. They were reminded of
the first advent candle lit the
previous Sunday at the White Gift
service and of the globe which.
was placed .on the tree as a
reminder that God has the whole
world in his hands.
The money and white gifts
presented by the children were
sent to Rev. Larry King to help
