BED RACE
A Bed Race is being held on Main Street as part of the
Brussels Santa Claus Parade on Dec. 17. All participants
must pre register using the coupon below.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Entrants must be 16 or over.
1. Must have once been a bed.
2. Four wheels or skis only ;(2 front, 2 back)
3. Must have a rider and four pushers.
4. No self propelled beds.
5. Any size bed will be allowed.
6. All beds must pass the "bed safety check" at 2 p.m.,
Dec. 17, at South End of Brussels, Main Street.
7. All riders must wear helmets.
8. Pushers must not change position with rider during
the race.
Not responsible for injuries.
All beds must be pre-registered at $5.00 entry per bed.
All participants enter at own risk.
Trophy and medals awarded.
First 15 beds only accepted.

Mrs. Jack Knight was leader
for the November meeting of the
W.M.S. held at the home of Mrs.
Clare Veitch. Mrs. Strang of
Exeter, the Presbyterial visitor
was present and spoke briefly on
the Fall Rally held in Shakespeare
Presbyterian Church. Rev. Roy
Gellatly, Mississauga told of
conditions in Cuba and Mrs.
Strang brought some of the most
interesting things from his talk.
She also explained with the help
of a chart the W.M.S.
organization and how it works
beginning with the auxiliaries and
up to Council Executive. For
deVoCons Mrs. Knight read the
Scripture alternately with the
members and gave a meditation
and led in prayer. Mrs. Stuart
Stevenson read a poem "Our
prayer". The topic "The man
called Jesus and the man born
blind" was given by Mrs.[Stanley
Fischer. Twelve members and
three visitors were present and
answered the roll using a verse
containing "dedication". Mrs.
W. Strickler commented on
several items of interest in the

went into operation on November
7.

days a week during the winter

A quilting was planned for next

the installation of officers. Mrs.

was served by Mrs. Stevenson,
Mrs. Geo. Smith and the
hostess.
Linton of the Huron County
Health Unit, Family Planning
Division in Clinton. Mrs. Linton
discussed her work in the family
planning division and the
programs that are available
through the Health Unit . A short
film was shown on. breast self
examination and the reasons for
having a Pap Test. Mrs. Cox
thanked Mrs. Linton and
presented her with a gift . Mrs.
G. Engel conducted a short
review on House logs and asked
or short reports from those who
have started their house logs.
Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Engel
served lunch.
Mrs. Harry Bolger and Mrs.
Gordon Engel visited in
Kitchener on Monday with Mrs.
Fons and Mrs. Elliott. "
Mrs. Ken Miller, Jodi and
Stacey spent' the weekend in
Toronto.
Mrs. Ralph Machan and Mrs.
G. McIntosh, Listowel visited
Mrs. Earl Dunn on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug. Thiel,
Patti and Mrs. Th iel Sr.
Kitchener were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Conley.
A miscellaneous shower was
held on Friday evening in the
Community Centre for Miss Linda
Smith whose,marriage takes place
this month. A large number of
relatives and friends were present
although the weather was quite
snowy. Mrs. Leslie Knight
presided for the program
consisting of tap dancing, piano
solos, vocal solos and songs by
several young girls. A bride's
menu contest was conducted by
Mrs. Charlie Bray. An address
was read by Miss Faye Blake and
several young girls carried in the
many useful gifts for which Linda
thanked everyone.
