The U.C,W. of Knox United
Church Belgave held a Special
Fall Meeting in the , church on
Sunday evening when Miss Annie
Cook and Mrs. Ross Higgins
presented the worship service.
The president Mrs. Kenneth
Wheeler welcomed the guests
from Brussels, Blyth, Calvin
Brick and the Belgrave
Presbyterian Churches. She
reminded the members about the
meeting entitled "Come to the
Fair" at Upper Thames School in
Mitchell on October 1 and the
"Enrichment Day" on October 12
in Wingham.

accompanied by Alison Roberts.
Guest Speaker Mrs. Jean
Christensen, London was
introduced by Mrs. Harold
Vincent. Mrs. Christensen
teachers English to New
Canadians. Her address on
"Some Interesting New Canadian
Women I have Known"lwas
enjoyed by everyone. She-
answered questions on how she
begins an initial lesson in
English, and showed some
beautiful pieces of oragami, made
for her by a Japanese pupil.
Mrs. Alice Scott thanked. Mrs.
Christensen and everyone
enjoyed lunch and a social hour ar
. at the close of the meeting.
Afternoon Unit Meets
The Afternoon Unit meeting
opened with singing, the hymn
"Break Thou the Bread of Life".
Mrs. Willard Armstrong led the
worship service which was
centred around the theme
"School Days for Young and Old
never stop learning." Mrs. Earl
Anderson introduced the Study
book "New Missions in the
Caribbean". The history of the
settlement of some of the British
Commonwealth was given,
especially Belise. The hymn "My
God I Love Thee," was repeated
in unison. Mrs. Armstrong led in
prayer and gave the Bible study
on Jesus the Free Person.

recently with Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Scott of Barrie and Mr. and Mrs.
Art Scott _of Midland.

Lawrence Taylor is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London having

the Majestic Institute was
"Queen Elizabeth's Silver
Jubilee". This was taken by
Leona Armstrong who told the
story of the Queen's life.
Wilma. Hemingway gave an
account of the Silver Jubilee in
Britain arid Doris McCall of the
Coin to honour the Queen's
Jubilee.
Marie McCutcheon spoke of
the Commonwealth and Marie
McTaggart read a Toast
to the Queen.
Several scrap books wer amde
and displayed on the Queens
Jubilee.
Wilma Hemingway had the
winning scrap book and Doris
McCall the second prize book. All
were well done.
The County Rally is to be held
in Howck Community Centre,
Monday Oct. 3. Delegates are
Doris. McCall and Jan Turnbull.
