Little People'

Little People .1nvasion ,
By Kim Brocklebank and Pauline
McLellan"
The Grade Eight students of
Brussels Public School were
invaded by the Little . People
Friday, June 17th, not from Mars
but from Delaware, Ontario.
They were equippped with
sounds from out of this world
ranging from Rock to Country.
The auditorium was packed with
people to listen to their far out
sounds. Their vivacious music got
everyone to their feet even boys
who usually don't participate.
When talking to them we found
their opinions were: the music
was better so they wanted to and
felt good about it. •

Ho lidays with pets ,
pet owners heading ,for the
cottage country can hOp ensure
happy holidays for themselves
and their pets if their animals are
vaccinated against rabies before
leaving home.
Rabies is a viral disease of the
nervous system transmitted in the
saliva of rabid animals. Dogs and
cats bitten by a rabid animal can
pass this disease to man.
Ontario Mlnistry of Agriculture
and Food veterinarian, Dr. H.J.
Neely, says rabies can - be
prevented by vaccinating travel-
ling pets, This rabies vaccine is
effective for two Y;'ars.
"Pets should get rabies vaccin-
ations at least 10 days before
departure. This allows time for
the pet to build up an immunity to
rabies," says Dr. Neely.
Pet owners must also vaccinate
animals they plan to take out of
Canada.

The Perth Federation of
Agriculture considers those
responsible for allowing the
dumping of raw sewage into the
Boyle drain, Wanted Men.
At its June 13th meeting. held in
Mitchell. Federation members
wanted to know who allowed the
dumping of partially evaporated
Sewage into a lagoon near
• Milverton.
The dumping occurred last
May and according to area
farmers. at the time,' the lagoon
Was a stinking mess.
Federation of Agriculture
members who have been out to
look at the drain and talk with the
farmers said the situation has
improved since a few rains have
fallen. The Ministry of the.
Environment is taking steps to
spray he lagoon. The Ministry
has been contacted and officials
feel there is no danger to
livestock. There has not been any
contaminated milk as yet. but is
any sickness occurs the Ministry
said that compensation would be
paid. A vet would have to
diagnose the sickness as being
caused by bad watch
The Federation passed a
motion made by .John Nato of
R.R.115, Mitchell. that an
investigation be la nch ed to find
the person responsible for the
mess; •
Mr. N mei. said that ii' he caught
one, fish out of season he was
fined, but someone at the
Milverton lagoon had killed
thousands of fish and nothing was
being clone about it.
Acting chairman for the
meeting, Tony Van Kloostcr.
suggested that more than one
person was probably responsible.
Mr. Nat er said. in that case they
should fire the whole damn
bunch.
It was pointed out that usually
the dumping is clone in early
spring so that the flood can
handle the excess sewage. This
year they missed the flood but
dumped allyW a y
As it stands now, the situation
is no worse. but (here t.:.; still a
lagoon -hall' full of stinking
sewage.
