By Pat Langlois
It was another nice evening for
a ball game. Rain, The stands
were crowded again and there, to
lead; the cheering were Jack and
Mary, It really gave us girls
confidence, all this enthusiasm.
After we filled up the water
holes, dug up home base, wrung
out our running shoes and visited
the ladies room we were ready for
our instructions from Muz, such
as, Val watch your language,
don't forget what base you 're
playing Ruth, Marene don't day
dream. Then he handed us our
rubber boots and said get.
First inning our pOwer hitter
Ruth hit a beautiful hommer over
to Stretton's yard bringing in two
runners with her. For Ruth it was
an easy walk around the bases.
No sweat. "
Ruth p lays third base this year
and when she throws it to first its
like a streak of smoke going past
you. Shultz has already burnt out

one glove this year with one of her
catches. So our first base woman
has a new glove and shoes to
match, Looking good.
This week we had fingers
Nichol on base umping and is he
terrible, He even called his own
mother out on third. It took him
two calls before he could decide
what she was and she did such a
wonderful slide she took the skin
right off her back side.
Its back to behind home plate
Fingers. At least the pitcher has a
target to pitch at, especially after
calling us girls broads.
Muzzy is getting fumble
fingers at short stop a basket,
apparently Elaine says the glove
has a hole in it.
We were leading till the fifth
inning and Muzzy called us in for
a conference. Muz being the good
hearted coach he is, felt sorry for
,the other team and decided we
should hold back on our hits dron
the ball, pitch off side just to let
them win this game. Then they
wouldn't know our strength.
Finally they pulled ahead in the
7th inning. It was 13 to 7 and it
was hard going for them because
it was hard for us to play lousy but
we tried. Muz had three words for
us,"good work girls." Well we
tried Muz.
