Cranbrook Storms cause many collisions

The regular morning service
and Sunday School in Knox
Church on Sunday morning was
cancelled because of weather and
road conditions.
The annual congregational
meeting announced for
Wednesday, February 2 will now
beheld one week later on
February 9 with a pot-luck dinner
at 12:30.
The congregations of Monkton
and Cranbrook have extended a
call to the Rev. Dr. J.K.Ross
Thomson of St. Catharines. Dr.
Thomson's first Sunday as our
minister will be March 6.
Ken Fischer suffered injuries in
a farm accident on January 15 and
has been a patient in Listowel
Memorial Hospital.
Bill Paris is also in Listowel
Hospital where he underwent
surgery early in the week.
Earl Jr. small son of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Grisdale has been in
Listowel Hospital for several days
and came home on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs..Doug. Purdy
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Stuart, Lindsay, arrived home
Sunday morning from a trip to
Florida. Leaving there for home
On Monday they were forced to
remain in Hensall for two days
owing to blocked roads.
During the week. January 24, -
30, 1977 the OPP at Wingharn
Detachment conducted twenty-
seven investigations.
Five charges were laid under
the Highway Traffic Act and five
warnings issued.
During the week, there were 14
Motor Vehicle Collisions which
caused an estimated $25,625.00
in property damage and injuries
to six persons.
On Friday, January 28, Marilyn
M. Litt of Teeswater was injured
as a result of a collision on #4
Highway, north' of the C.P.R.
Spur Line X-ing, with Leonardo
Pinto of Stratford.
As a result of the above
collision, Leonardo Pinto was
standing by his vehicle when it
was struck by a vehicle driven by
Glenda J. Ballagh of R,R,1,
Wroxeter. The Pinto vehicle
swung into Mr. Pinto,causing
minor injuries to him.
On Sunday, January 30,
Mervyn J. Bauer of R.R.3,
Brussels and William P. Elgie of
Bluevale were involved in
a collision on Turnberry Street at
Elm Street, Brussels. Marilyn
Elgie and :Rebecca Smith, both of
R.R.1, Bluevale, and both
passengers in the Elgie vehicle
received injuries as a result of the
collision.
On Sunday, January 30 ,
Werner H. Stoll of R.R.1,
Clifford and Sherry E.. Coleman
of R.R.2, Gorrie were involved in
a collision on 30 County Road
south of Concession 12 - 13,
Howick Township. Sherry E.
Coleman and a passenger in her
vehicle, Mary Anne Campbell of
Toronto, were both injured as a
result of the collision.
During the week January 31
-Febimary 6, officers at Wingham
Detachment conducted
twenty-three investigations.
Six charges were laid under the
Highway Traffic Act and eight
warnings were issued.
One charge was laid under the
Liquor Licence Act.
During the week, there were
six motor vehicle collisions which
caused an estimated $9,850.00 in
property damage. No one was
injured.
