Gaunt announced Monday that
the registered nursing, assistants
course at the Wingham and
District Hospital will continue.

Councillors learned that the
next Brussels recreation meeting
will be held Monday, February 21
at the fire hall and the next
meeting of the new arena
building committee will be held
Roads in Brussels are in good
shape and snow plow operators
are winging back the snow as fast
as they can, councillor 'Tom
Pletch reported for the roads
committee at Monday night's
Brussels council meeting.
They are trying to take away as
much snow as they can, councillor
Pletch said.
Council heard a report on the
wind and snow load that their old
arena can withstand from
engineer Ken Dunn. The building
is safe in a 37 mile per hour wind
and in gusts up to 54 miles per
hour,, councillors heard. The
building's roof will hold a snow
load of 11 pounds per square
foot.If either of these amounts are
exceeded, the arena must be
closed until the situation changes,
according to Ministry of Labour

industrial commissioner.
Councillor George Jutzi will
attend a meeting of the Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority
with the winghim office of the
Ministry of Natural Resources on
:Feb. 24. Councillor Pletch will
attend the Ontario Good Roads
Convention inToronto on Feb. 21.

J.L.McCutcheon Motors Ltd.
were written off, along with the
business tax of $93 owed by
Allard and Son Liquidators which
is no longer in business here.
Council agreed with the,
resolution 'from the township of
Turnberry expressing concern for
the criteria used for flood plain
control mapping.
Council will buy fifty of the
maps and will have them for
resale at the village clerk's office
for $1 each.

Not only broken mains have
been a problem here. Even worse
have been frozen water pipes
under the streets. These have
been a headache for those
responsible and to some of our
residents. There have been
homes without water until the
long, tedious job of thawing them
has been accomplished.

It has horrified some people to
watch what some youngsters
have been doing. Boys have been
seen hanging on to the back of
cars on the main street, and
elsewhere. The streets have been
icy and to see these kids clinging.

were to see them. They should
warn their sons what a dangerous

of a Pancake Supper will again be
observed in st. John'S Anglican
Church here on Tuesday,
February 22nd. That is the place
to get a hearty fill of delectable,
melt-in-the-mouth pancakes. If
you do not like pancakes attend
anyway. While you watch others
smack their lips over pancakes
you can enjoy the other good

calmed down somewhat the work
of cleaning the huge accumula-
tions of snow goes On. Itseems a
never-ending job these days.

Championship competitions are
over. As anticipated Lynn
Nightingale of OttaWa won the
Women's singles title and Ron.
Shaver, now without' the brilliant
performance of Toiler Cranston to
compete againSt as he has had to
do in past year's, was tops in the
men's singles, May they perform
in Tokyo at the peak of their
artistic perfection. Perhaps some
time before too long sortie of our
